well finally, two PC formats and endles frustration later, i can put this one to bed. must have spent hours on one jumpy off a platform shoot monsters grapple (oh how i hate the grapple) to kill the fat boss with no legs and natla, both were a total breeze compared to that grapply bit.

anyway, here's to underworld being hard without being difficult for no reason, im looking forward to it now.

the game also frustrates me in the great pyramid levels... the retracting ledges, grapples...mutants...:p

the retracting ledges usually irritated me. The mutants were annoying when they grabbed lara's head or when lara wouldn't grab the hook on the wall:mad:

Congratulations! I'm currently still trying to drag myself through it too.:)

Congratulations oculi:tmb:
what i found most frustating were the egypt levels, mainly the obelisk part, because of the traps and ledges:hea:

The game is very easy. Pull yourself together, you call yourself a Tomb Raider! :smk:

yeah it was easy, apart from all the stupid little difficult bits, i nearly broke my keyboard a number of times. I think CD's answer to "its too easy" is to just confuse the hell out of people by making lara jump the wrong way, or having the camera go for a walk when she is about to get killed, rather than actually put any content in.

was still way shorter than TR3, but i loved every minute of that.

actually, i read the develpers note at the end, and got the impression they thought it was better than the original Tomb Raider, which i think is absurd, when TR came out it was a real breakthrough, even though the graphics werent even very good for the time.

as i said, i hope underworld is an improvement over legend and anniversary, but i'm one of the wierd people who thought the grid system was OK and wants a control system that actually does what you tell it, so we will see.

Nothing weird about anything that you wrote.

And I agree with all of it as well. Very well done. All of my "difficulty" in the game had to do with control/camera issues. I honestly could have almost finished the game blindfolded, with someone vocalizing direction and type of movement. No accuracy required. Lara does so much on her own. However the camera/control mechanisms had many problems. The worst is when you are on grasping a ledge on a wall, and have to jump backwards to another ledge that you cannot see. Who is the brainiac who thought of that?

The thing that made me furious at times was the control/camera thing, plus the checkpoint save system...

I remember doing the timed run for the artifact in Obelisk of Khamoon and keeping dying (most of the times at the grapple thing) and restarting at the bottom (for some reason the checkpoint in the middle didn't work) OR at the top (I did the whole thing and then decided to go for the artifact, however, I decided to activate the checpoint at the bottom, which was even worse)...

It took me 2:30 hours (aprox) to pull it off right....

Btw, the Great Pyramid Ascent wasn't difficult, mainly because after each run you have a checkpoint (not like in obelisk) and you can try again (and by that time of the game the whole grapple/wall run thing is almost mastered)....

That happened in older games, although not so often. I remember a couple of sections in China, in TR2, that involve you jumping backwards from a ladder onto another at a very dificult camera angle, and there is also a secret in Lud's Gate (TR3) directly at Lara's back when she's climbing. I remember cause those frustrated me as hell back then. But itt wasn't so common, cause climbing was sporadic, unlike now.

Well done on finishing! I am still not finished - got so bored of trying to get off that pesky third ledge in the Great Pyramid that I went off and started playing Legend :D I'm going to go back and try again at some point this weekend though. I don't want to give up this close to the end!

I finally finished the game. My fiancé wanted to try the game on his on profile because he thought because I finished the game with ALL cheats ( :D ) that he would be able to get them too. Unfortunately he didn't get 'em :p

You should have seen the look on his face when he had to get ALL of the items and stuff and try and work on activating the cheats, LOL

Oh well. All in all, I liked the game actually. The hard parts of the game created a mini puzzle to me. Yes the weird camera angles could have been improved but it added spice to the game in my mind. Besides, I wouldn't have bought it if I wouldn't have liked it, same with every other game I own. I have my reasons for buying a game.

Tomb Raider:Anniversary gets a 9.5/10 in my books

Good luck to those still trying to finish the game.

PS - You Tube is awesome for hints and shortcuts for beating the Time Trials and how to get to an artifact or what-ever. ;)
