View Full Version : Unfinished Business Challenge - Arrangement
Here we go, folks :)
Rules:
1. PC TR1 UB
2. Everyone is to post final stats screenshot for every level (if you go no-scratch, post life bar also). Better post them all in one post (i.e edit your first post with screens).
3. Let's limit screenshot size to reasonable 640x480 or even less - make it big enough to see the stats
4. We prefer not to set ending limitation, so just try to keep running along with others. Come and check people's progress. So generally no ending limitation
Generic limitations:
1. No medipacks (or as few as possible).
2. All secrets and all (as much as possible) pickups.
Participants will add their own limitations in their joining posts below in that thread.

My TR1, along with UB, still doesn't work. :( But I'll be happy to participate in all future TR challenges you're going to open. The fun is about to start then... :D

I am having PC trouble atm. (hopefully not for much longer, though) and I still have to finish the TR1 challenge. But, yes, I am in! Brilliant, now we only need to get Neteru and Nicky on board and it will be like in old times.

Although I was not participated TR1, I'll join this for sure :tmb:
I'll go with all secrets, no medis and pistols only :) I'll also try as many kills as possible and also as much as possible pickups.
Count me in, this is what I must participate (and finish) :D
I haven't installed any older TR game since I got a new graphics card last summer, so it will be intriguing to try installing UB and see if it works :D
If it does, I will most probably join. I'll let you know in time :)

I can't. I have never been able to get TR & UB to run on my computer (AMD processor) and have never known anyone with an AMD processor to be able to get it to run either. Besides which, I just don't have the time to either try to sort it out, or play through it. But I'll still be watching you guys and enjoying it vicariously.

Hmm... I have an AMD Sempron processor and UB works fine for me (albeit whilst running under Glidos). Or is it a specific AMD processor that it won't work with?
On topic, I'm tempted to join this one - I've always wanted to have a go at a TR challenge, and the short 4-level nature of UB might be just brief enough for my hopeless attention span lol.

I gather this is sort of one of those cute unfinished business challenges the thread is about :jmp:
Now, one of the pc's I have floating about here is an Acer Aspire 1362 Laptop whose cpu brand is AMD Mobile Sempron 2800+, Win XP Pro SP2.
Does it fit in ?
Now, if you want, I'd really like to know what issues you have found, what OS you're using and what softwares (Glidos, dgVoodoo, windows' in_compatibility mode ... ?)
I really think there ought to be no insoluble obstacle (maybe) :cln:
Major headache fits if need be I'd be expecting from the graphics card and driver side, anyway.

But at worst you could always resort to using an emulator like Dosbox who little cares for the cpu specs, as long as it's fast enough :)

All AMD CPU I've dealt with run TR1 and UB without any probs, Net. So if your curiosity level beats your current work load, you can PM me Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) report and we'll try to find out the roots of your issue :)

Well as it turns out, I won't be participating :rolleyes: The damn thing doesn't run, and moreover my PC seems to be enountering certain issues that I need to look after.
I will try a fresh installation of UB sometime this week, and then give you a definitive answer :)

I have a feeling that fixing those issues will result in a successful installation of the game. Something was wrong with the command prompt (it was corrupted). I tried several fixes, but what actually did the trick in the end, was performing a System Restore. So I have my hopes up that the game will most likely run fine this time *crosses fingers* :D

I'm scratching my head but can't remember if there is a way to stop the game and check your stats (before finishing a level, that is). Is there?
Not that I remember.
I think the first one where you could do this was TRLR, but I might be completely wrong.
Doh, I just remembered! You should press Escape, then get some different rotating menus. I'll check in a bit.
Edit: just checked and looks like you are right, Gabi. No statistics :rolleyes:

Can you use Dracman's patchs (not the cheats).
^ Anything that modifies original gameplay not (in exception of some bugs) can be used, so yes. :)

Just in time then to tell you I'm not taking part in the end... The game runs alright, but there's a problem when I try to uninstall the supplementary tools. I know there's probably a solution to this, but I really need the PC for work currently so no time for experiments for the time being... :)

Okay cool :D I am going to have a little practice before i start. I had trouble with tr1 before getting it to install so i am glad now i got it to work. :)
