Home (known more practically as PlayStation Home) is a community-based service for the PlayStation Network which has been in development since early 2005. Home allows users to create an avatar for their PlayStation 3 console. This avatar will get their own virtual apartment space, which can then be adorned with items users can receive in several different ways. In the future the service will also expand, allowing players to have more sorts of clothing or bigger apartments. Sony wants to give people the tools to create their own things, but they also want a safe place for younger users to feel comfortable. Sony is aiming for the initial download to be under 500MB. Home was announced at the Game Developers Conference on March 7, 2007 with a scheduled global public release in September or October 2007. During the TGS 2007, Home's full release was announced to be delayed until "Spring 2008".

Home looks just incredible to me. I remember first looking at it like a year ago, as it is March 23rd when the Playstation 3 was released, and I was all hyped up about it. But then I forgot about it and the PS3 until I got one for Christmas, now I can't wait to play it. Even though it is not a full action packed game, it allows the player to do whatever they wish and like the concept of it. I have seen some Beta trials recently on youtube and want it so much. In the videos the avatar changes clothes, dances, uses the virtual PSP whose theme can be customized like a real PSP and converses in a little town with excellent graphics, it looks almost real in some angles! There was even a little buble machine emitting realt time bubbles:) Can't wait for it to arrive and the best part is...it's free:tmb:

I hope its as good as they have made it out to be with this huuuge wait. I need to get a ps3 first though haha.

The comparison vid was a bit annoying. I mean yeah Home is really good in its own right, but I hope you can view achievements and what not in list for like on the 360 as well. I don't want to be looking at a hugely busy screen when I just want a tiny bit of info.

Yes, we have been waiting a long time for this, it better have been worth the wait! I would hate it if it froze every 20 minutes like the PS3 web browser does.

Me too, I love games like these. Second life for the PC got me hooked instantly, and the thought of a much more complex version with PS3 graphics.....:cln:

Yeah, i was kinda disappointed when i first took a look at the PS1 section of the PS store. I was hoping for all the old classics to be available, but i guess there will be more coming soon.

Lol, some of the early beta videos do show off a quite crappy walk animation, but if you take a look at some of the latest footage (first video at 00.54) you'll notice that the animation looks perfect and very natural.

It does look really good. However, people always make the products look much better then they usually are, so I wouldn't be surprised if it isnt what they crank it up to be.

But if its as good as they say, im sure PS3 users are gonna have a blast! :tmb:

It's free for starter but it'll use money later when you wanted to purchase furniture and stuff for your home. I read it in a magazine once. :)

@Shark_Blade: True, but a handful of objects and clothing will be given to you free of charge when you download the game, and you'll be able to get exclusive objects with every game that you buy, like Tomb Raider Underworld T-shirts, wallpapers etc. Exclusive and unique object will be for sale in the PS Store, just like Second life and other online games. :)
