Hey, well I've been thinking on this for quite some time now, as an all-time Playstation player I fell I need to get to the current generation consoles as they're now cheaper.

Firstly I want to get an Xbox 360 because of all the games being released or have been released for it that I could get; Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, Resident Evil 5, Tomb Raider Underworld, Grand Theft Auto IV, Condemned and I could even get into the Halo series.

Secondly I can get very very good graphics at even half the cost of a PS3 while the games are also cheaper and more titles are available.

My brother also has a PS3 so if the need be I could use his at certain points, but I thought to ask some fellow gamers before making any decisions do you think I should make the switch from Sony to Microsoft?

Any advice or comments will be greatly appreciated :D

^^That is the simple answer, yeah go with the 360! My first xbox was the xbox premium I had that for a year. Then I heard about the xbox elite so I bought that, mainly becuase of the HD and because of the Black finish. Also I reccomend buying Assassins Creed the graphics are amazing on the 360 way better than the PS3.

I play my 360 FAR more than my PS3... and if money is also an issue (which it sounds like it is) then I'd go for the 360 first... if you can only have one of 'em.

Get an extended warranty, though... they have been known to have a higher than usual failure rate; if you're covered it's just an inconvenience though.

No, get a PS3, a lot more games will start to come out shortly so you won't have a problem with games unless you're a hardcore Halo fan or something.

I say get the PS3 but it's totally your choice. If your are going to get a Xbox 360 get the Elite version as apparently that’s the fixed version and the original has the faults. They should really have a recall of the original console to stop people buying the faulty one.

Take the 360. :)
It has the best controls out of the two (360and PS3) and I prefer many of the games on the system. There's only 2-3 games on the PS3 that looks like their worth buying, while 360 has loads of em. Though that is entirely my opinion.

Erm, yes. And basically, the PS3 control is the same as the PS2 one imo.

360 is the best buy at the moment so go for it, make sure you go for the premium or elite.

last manufacture date was decemeber 07 and there should be some 08 manufactured consoles soon.

No. They break down far too often if you ask me. You'll probably be sending yours to Microsoft every month to get it repaired like I did until I gave up and threw it away. Don't bother, get a PS3 or Wii instead. :wve:

I dunno...
The 360 failure rate is ridiculously high. RROD and all that. A PS3 or Wii would be a smarter choice but it's your decision. :)

If you think that there are more games you'd like to play for the 360, then go for it. I got mine in November and I mostly play Xbox games. I last bought a 360 game in January, because a lot of them don't appeal to me, when I thought they would. I IZ STOOPID!!!11lolz!1

Lots of great games and an affordable price. If it breaks down (more unlikely than before), you'll get another one for free.

A lot of the games coming for 360 are also coming for PS3. However, most of the time they look and play better on 360 (for whatever reason).

Definitely you should get the Xbox 360. They have a reputation for failing, but I've been a 360 player for a year and 4 months, and mine has only broken down once! Even then, it took 2 weeks to get a replacement.

If you can, try to get the Elite. Microsoft has fixed a lot of issues with the elite.

No it's not. I've had mine for 2-3 years and it broke down once.

Just to add, my premium I have had that for over 2 years now and it hasn't broken down once! I must have a lucky console :D My elite I have had for about 5 months now and it hasn't had any problems so far.

Should I Buy an Xbox 360?

yeah, why not? :p

At the end of the day, a games console is a games console, and I am sure you will find plenty of games to play, no matter which system you are on.

Well I'm selling my 360 again, :D

I spend hardly any time on games now, they are not really worth the money - most next gen games last like 5-8 hours max and for £45 upwards I'm really disgusted with the industry right now.

I remember when everyone was like "hey cool, Xbox 360 will be so brilliant" - the things people say when a new console is revealed  - little did they know the failure rate was so very high and the games would cost an arm and a leg - for only 8 hours of play... it shouldn't have tempted me but hey ho I bought a 360 an now I'm selling up.

I think if you have Xbox live the console is worth alot more, I don't have live sadly but then again I'm not one for people shouting and screaming in my ear when I'm playing games... 10 year old Halo fanboys :smk:

The thing which first made me want a 360 is the supposed "new and innovative" games - but where are they? Well I guess there's Gears... 8 hours long and not the most re-playable game ever, Perfect Dark Zero did very little to excite me and course there's Lost Odyssey- the one game I still regularly play on the console, it's developed by a Japanese guy who used to be the head of FF on Sony's console :)

Right enough I don't really play much on the PS3 either, most games I have maybe played once then back to the bargain bin they go - I trade them in at Gamestation and the guy looks at me like "yes we have like loads of this game already ta very much" :tea:

And the thing is I see other people doing the exact same thing, last time I was in there I traded in NG Sigma, HS, Pro-Evo Soccer 08 and Assassin's Creed - and guess what? couple of folk behind me traded in AC, HS and NGS the very same day just two secs after I had... think that's really not great :(

I used to buy games and keep them for ages, I still have some of my original Xbox and PS2 games that I'd never sell - why? because I enjoy playing them so much and they really are fun and enjoyable even though I may have completed them like 100 times over - I can't say that about any of my 360 or PS3 games... except maybe Oblivion, which is probably the biggest and longest game to be released on either console yet! :jmp:

So I'd say you'd be better off putting the money towards a holiday or something, that's where my moneys going now - once I've sold my 360 of course :D

No.

The Xbox 360 smells of wee and it's dad is in prison.

Seeing as your brother already owns a PS3 I suggest you buy a Wii.

YES!!!

There is a ridiculous amount of terrific games on the 360! I play mine Everyday, and so many people say that they break...sure, occasionally they have problems, but Microsoft fixes it for you, then Blam! You've got a new/fixed 360 and all of its glory...so...

How can you go wrong? :D

How biased can you be...

The 360 (RROD aside) is a great console simply because it has lots of great games. It all boils down to personal preference but the 360 just has a bigger library which is a plus.

The 360 is the console for the hardcore gamer and right now kicks PS3's @ss. I'm not being biased, it's true. IGN's 2007 holiday guide didn't recommend the PS3 for any type of gamer.
