I'm looking for a cheap camera (30 or less) that I can stick in my pocket and carry around with me for quick snapshots.

I don't need any frills or fancy addons, but auto-focus would be nice. It'll be used outdoors mostly so it doesn't really need flash. Picture quality need not be fantastic, but I need something that takes bigger and better quality shots than a mobile phone.

I've been fishing around Ebay and Amazon but haven't really found anything outstanding so far.

Any reccommendations?

There's one I saw on Ebay, it can fit in your pocket, and there's easy software you can use to edit the pictures which comes with it. I will go look for it now!

30 GBP or less for something that makes better pictures than a mobile phone? I doubt you will be able to find anything...

There are no good cameras for 30 GBP on the market. Good ones start at at least twice that amount.

If you are willing to spend that, the Canon Powershot A560 is a good choice. Canon introduces new cameras twice an hour (at least it seems that way to me), so it may already have a successor. That would be a good choice as well. Maybe you'll also find the predecessors (A550, A540, A530) cheap somewhere. None of these is a bad choice either.

I already have a very good camera, but it's just not convenient to carry around with me because of its size. I'm not looking for a camera that can take masterpieces and I can't afford to spend more than 30 quid on it; I basically just want a toy camera that can record snapshots that aren't a blurry mess. :)

are you in a rush to get it?

hold out until the summer sales and you will get a lot more bang for your buck. i got my mum a digital camera in the sales last year for her birthday, was supposed to be 85 i got it for 35 in tesco's of all places. They had a big summer stock clearance and because it was the last one it was dirt cheap. Actually takes pretty good photos too ( nearly as good as my expensive camera) it also came with a 1gig memory card and a docking station too!

Needless to say she thought id spent a lot more on her than i actually had so was very surprised :whi:

Sounds like you just need a new mobile phone :p Some of them have cameras can easily compete with low-budget digital still cameras.

Go to tesco's or any other supermarket. They always have cheap cameras in there, gennerally of good quality too.

But surely a new mobile phone with a decent camera ( unless gecks on contract... and the contract is conveniently up for renewal about now) is going to cost more than an equivalent quality camera;)

I just got a used Canon A60 for 18 quid on ebay. :tmb: Examples of its picture quality here (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/a60_samples.html).

Quite pleased with that. :D
