I chose random image with enough good quality. Now try to look between these images below by turning your eyes in X direction (squint?) so you could see 3 images at once - then adjust your distance from your monitor to see the 3rd image clearly which will also has a depth aka 3d. Don't do that for too long of course.

Works for me, but would be much easier if the picture was smaller, IMO. Still that effect is awesome. Love optical illusions.

This is even better: an animated stereogram!

Note: do not squint your eyes, but turn your eyes into the other direction - outwards! It will look all weird if you just squint...

It still looks like a photo image no matter how you look at it, I work with 3D all the time and that "illusion" just looks like a photograph.

Yep.. It is amazing that sort of thing.

I love those type of effects.
For those who can't seem to get it,
I always sort of cross my eyes, and when i see a third image in the middle, focus on it. My eyes will normally snap into cross-eyed mode and I can look at the image as long as I want! I'd like to know how this is done!

it has a slight 3d effect to it, the first was a little more prevelent than the second since the second was already 3 dimensional - however, the effect produce was more of a sunken look on the first rather than a raised one.

And yes, the trick to these things is to cross your eyes. Basically focus your eyes at a point in front of the monitor, it helps to practice doing this by holding your finger between your face and the object in question, then focus on it. Slowly move your finger backwards or forwards until you can see the images behind your finger align properly. At this point, you should be able to remove your finger and see the images, and the effect produced. It gets easier though.

Awesome! I love the effect. Very beautiful, and a cool picture choice. Hope to see more of this.

See that's a difference to take into account. Some stereograms require you to cross your eyes (move them inwards), others (most of them!) require you to move your eyes outwards. When you apply the wrong technique to a stereogram, you will see the sunken look instead of the raised one.

Lol yeah, but the idea is that you will see depth when you do the eye trick thing. :p

The 1st pic... I too think any 3D effect is weak in this example. It just seems like it should really pop-out more. If anything... Have something that leads the eyes towards the horizon or have more (closer) background objects to give more variety and sense of depth.

I rate that one a 4. It's a pretty girl in a tasteful pose.... But what's up with her pelvis? It's like her bones are sticking out and her dress is just hanging on them! x_X

I remember a site... Something like (nevermind, I won't be milking that cow... er, saying what it was here) and that had some very good 3D pictures. But there was also some other content unsuitable for 'all ages'.

Is there perhaps a page somewhere with more of these things? I've always loved them, I had a few books with pictures like this and I eventually learned to see it in like a second :p

Heh yeah same here, I can see both types of sterograms in about a second :p I have a book with very nice sterogram posters, really cool.
I've never actively gone looking for them or anything, but still as far as I know, animated stereograms are quite rare...

Here's where you can make your own (http://www.flash-gear.com/stereo/), by the way :o
