Hi

I'm having a little problem of either some questions...
I've just got the opertunity to be working in USA: Orlando to be exact.

Now here comes the questions and also the problems....
I life in Belgium and at the moment single. (not that that matters :D)

So i can move to Florida... But what do i need to have in order to stay for a longer perriot of time???

I know i need a green card (which my work can help me get it)
I also know i need a passport: I have that to...

I also have my drivers-licence. But this is a European licence...
Do i also have premission to drive in USA with it. Or do i need to pass for the American exame???

Are there any other things i need to know before i could move???

Thanks in advance

I think the one you have is sufficient; a friend of mine passed her driver's license in the US and came back to Denmark - I think she just had to 'convert' it or something (in lack of a better word?).. But I'm sure someone at the driver's license department knows about this!

I wish I could help you out more.. At least I'll bring your thread to the top and someone can help you with the other stuff ;)

If you've been granted a Green Card then the hard part is practically over but I suppose the next stages would be seeing prices to move your material possessions as it can be quite expensive. I'm not entirely sure but I wouldn't be surprised if you had to retake your driving exams in the USA as the cars drive on the other side of the road etc.
Other than that I'm sure there are websites which could guide you further. Have you thought about using Yahoo Answers? You'd get opinions from people who have actually moved to the USA. Good Luck on your move though and I hope everything goes well.

TRF, just out of curiosity, is there a US consulate or embassy near you? If there is, I'd see if you can stop by and ask them, they may have more info on file but from what you've told us, it seems like you've got the basics out of the way. Other than that, I'm not sure what would be needed.
