I know there are some Rush fans out there. So I decided to make a nice thread about it. Please, if you decide to make a little comment, or post on this thread, please don't insult any other members of Tomb Raider Forums, or any member of Rush. Please, only nice comments:). You can talk about songs, members of the band, or show us some of their music videos. Thanks for your time. Some supporting links will be shown under this comment:

"The Trees"

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light

But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'

Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

LOVE RUSH... I've seen them twice in concert; great, great live show.

I must say I love their earlier work more than their newer stuff... of course, even "subdivisions" is old now! And that's a great song from a great album!

How about a little "Xanadu"?!

I saw 'em at the Cap Centre! haha shows my age.
Anyway, Dave, this is one of my faves, but topmost, (and the one on my ipod) is Working Man:

I get up at seven, yeah
And I go to work at nine
I got no time for livin
Yes, Im workin all the time

It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess thats why they call me
They call me the workin man

They call me the workin man
I guess thats what I am

I get home at five oclock
And I take myself out a nice, cold beer
Always seem to be wondrin
Why theres nothin goin down here

It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess thats why they call me
They call me the workin man

They call me the workin man
I guess thats what I am

Well they call me the workin man
I guess thats what I am

That wasn't, by any chance, the Power Windows tour was it? The show where Marillion was supposed to be the opening act but they didn't play for some reason?

That was the first time I saw Rush live...

^^ What she said! ^^
I saw'em at the Spectrum in Philly with Blondie as the opening act back in '78 or '79. The stories I could tell about that show! Working Man is my undeniable favorite by Rush.

I was about 16 and sorry, but I don't remember much about it, it was overshadowed by other factors. Ok this is the story. I got in a fight with my dad about going, I had just spent the summer in Bethesda with my best friend and had only been home a few weeks.

So we have this big fight, and I go anyway, hitch-hiking back to Bethesda. Go to the show with my BFF, and we get a friend to drive me back home (2 and a half hour drive) the next day. When I get home, my father's fiancée is there (so I may have been 15) and she tells me that my Dad had a heart attack and is in critical condition in the hospital.
:(

Not a proud moment.

Not a proud moment.

It's wasn't your fault. May I ask, did he survive?

About a half-dozen or so of us took the train downtown to the Hemispheres tour. Personally I like their work from RUSH up to 2112 and they played 2112 at that show. I'll never forget the Overture/Temples of Syrinx performance. They had a couple of flash pots set up in front of the drummers platform and the front of the platform was mirrored somehow. They don't do it in this video but at the show the flash happened at about 4:28 after Geddy Lee sings "and the meek shall inherit the Earth", the stage goes black, and POW! :yik: It totally blinded me

for maybe five seconds and I saw stars for maybe a minute! One of my buddies, Dave, was so startled he literally bolted upright out of his seat! :p He always was the nervous type.

If Rush weren't one of the greatest bands of all time I would never have learned to like Geddy Lee's vocals.

Moving Pictures for the win!

YYZ is my favorite on that CD. Kind of seems like a stoner song, but great guitar playing the bass solos are incredible!

Neil Peart was my favorite drummer when I was a kid/teenager. My oldest nephew has taken up the drumkit so I bought him the 'Neil Peart - A Work In Progress' DVD. I'm gonna have to brush up on my drumming(I was a drummer in the school band and some garage bands) to keep the bugger from gettin' the better of me! I bought the 'Rush In Rio' DVD for myself, it best reminds of the show I saw so long ago. :D

I have Rush in Rio, great Bass sounds. Wicked guitar playing, too. Lifeson is always great.
