As expected, Yahoo has responded to Microsoft's 3 week ultimatum (http://liberty-hell.uhhwtf.com/index.php?showtopic=7834) this morning. The bottom line is pretty clear in a letter signed by Jerry Yang (CEO) and Roy Bostock (chairman). In the "Dear Steve" response to Ballmer they state, "we will not allow you or anyone else to acquire the company for anything less than its full value." They go on to state that, "We consider your threat to commence an unsolicited offer and proxy contest to displace our independent Board members to be counterproductive and inconsistent with your stated objective of a friendly transaction." Make no mistake about it, this is corporate war and will likely end with Yahoo's best engineers working for Google.

<Microsoft taking over the world mode = ON>
Today: Yahoo!, next week: Google, next month: the world! MUAHAHAHA <mode = OFF>

Kind of J/K, I totally preffer being "eaten" by Microsoft than by Google :pi:.

"True value" is cute. Yahoo is, like anything, worth exactly as much as someone is willing to pay for it. If the guys over there don't accept that soon, then they'll end up with a hostile takeover by Microsoft, possibly for even less money. I don't like Microsoft taking over Yahoo, but I don't think there's anything Yahoo can do against it anymore.

On this, I agree. If one company owns a lot more things, it'll be much more easier for everybody. Let's just hope the changes won't be HUGE.

I love how Yahoo release this, even though it's slightly'' bad for them, Microsoft would never do a thing, such as hiding Vista by Windows 7 and such.

I think Yahoo are more of an independent company, disagreeing to MS might make MS think more along the lines of :: STOP BUYING EVERYHTING WITHIN EYEES REACH!!!
