Heres my brand new project based heavily on the Silent Hill games series.
I've made a poster (which is also my load screen) for now, but still gotta build some rooms to show:D

STORY:
A young woman, Paige Shepard, and her boyfriend, Michael, were returning home on a dark night when their car was involved in a horrific traffic accident.
Paige awakes in a hospital, alone.
She asks the staff about her husband, but they avoid her questions, and tell her that she will be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
It is here that the pain will consume her forever and she will find the truth deep inside her own subconsious...

The game will feature 2 endings, one good(ish) and the other bad aswell.

@Zebra - I had to cancel it as I wasn't satisfied with how it looked and had probs.

Even though shes in a wheelchair, the game is set in the subconcious mind:o
To make it easier, think of it as an alternate reality;)
I actually researched the themes of SH and found some freaky stuff...

Rebirth? I didn;t make a game called that.:o
I did try a TR Anniversary CORE remake, if thats what you mean.
This project will definetely get finished as the goals are realistially set, instead of remaking all of TR1 by myself or having too grand ideas for Avalon.:p

Use the Silent Hill 1 theme, it is the best one in my opinion, and the tremolo banjo makes it even more scarier....
Try it...

Or if I have to choose, the Wounded Warhol or whatever is its name...

What SH3 models? Heather x3? (its not possible...or it is?) or enemys and objects?

I tried to make the nurse by myself, but had size issues with Meta.
I have made somethings before, and followed the tutorials but they get smaller in stripx (spelling?)
I tried to modify the Sleeping Sophia enemy from trsearch...:(
All I did was add a nurse hat on the head and put a pipe in one hand

First screens coming tomorrow! Note: I build my rooms in Meta, so it takes longer, but looks far less blocky:)

Havin probs with the title screen! The logo was fine but when I put it in RAW it went like this.... the logo.bmp was fine though?
I tried a program called 'TRcustomscreens' to do my last logo and it worked, but can't remember how to use it!
I saved it as bmp and edited it, then ran the batch in the Logo folder but it ain't workin'?
Its suppost to be red like in the poster!

I Love Silent Hill Series, I finished the first, the third, the fourth and I'm playing the PSP one (origins).

The main story (Alessa/Cheryl) is amazing

Well I can help with these if you want, my mesh creating had imporved alot recently, I can help you with sizes if you want. :)

Yet another stupid problem!:hea:
I downloaded models of cars and items for the streets, they are in .3ds format.
Meta won't open them though! I tried Milkshape, but can't do it as I ain't regestered!:hea:
If I sent them here, can someone put them into a dxf format or something, so I can edit them:o

Fixed the problem!:D
I downloaded Rhino Trial Version and it loaded.
This is my first ever object. I had to delete and recreate parts, as the mesh was over 4000 polys!:o Here is it, a simple pickup truck...
I will make cars, lights and other street items too:D

I tried making a bus/coach but the poly was way to high (10,000+) and when I edited it it was bad.:(
I tried placing parts of it on a rectangle but it looked too basic:p
I won't be able to work on this until Sunday as I am staying at my dads.
I want to make the objects before I make the levels.
So far I have a few cars/jeeps and lampposts. I want the levels to look as real as possible, so I don't want to use the ones on TRSearch:D Here are my latest that fit in TRLE(under 1000 polys). Jeep is unfinished but nearly there!

I still gotta sort out my objects first, but don't know how to add collison boxes to my new objects. The pickup I made looks rubbish in game, but it was textures bad, as the mesh wasn't perfect.
I really wanna start building, but can't till I've done the cars and stuff - I'll look pretty emypt streets otherwise:o

Its typical that everytime I wanna do a project, things go wrong:mad:
I had my textures sorted out and they work in NGLE and ingame.
Yet when I try to open the TR4 file in Rviewer, the textures don't show up.
I tried to redo them in Iceburgs Texture Program, but it won't open them either. I swore I did it in 256 by 256, but it doesn't work!
I think I have too many textures, but I need them all:(

You will never be able to import this into the StripX I guess and otherwise it will look to weard in game because the details of it so It wil look like the texture's are moving into eachother!:D

Actually I tested them and they DO import into Stripx. The jeep needs finishing, but the lamppost and trafficlights do work;)
I wanted to start today, but the stupid texture problem is holding me back!:hea:

Did you actually make them yourself, or did you rip them from another game?

I only ask this because compared to your previous screenshot, there's an obvious difference in quality.

They aren't from any games. The reason why the jeeps are totally different is because I had to lower the poly count a lot.
This new jeep needs fixing to be under 900 polygons and isn't finished yet.
The other 2 are under this however and import into stripx with no probs:D

It won't let my copy it over to overwrite tut1.tga again.

Still having texture probs!!!:hea:
I redid the textures again and used Iceburgs texture maker and overwrote it as tut1.
Still doesn't show in TRviewer, but does fine in NGLE.:confused:
Also, Trviewer is having a fit! Random tiles won't retexture, but others will.
I click on textures and other appear itstead!
Whats going on!?:cen: If I can't solve this, I'll just have to use NGLE instead:(

If anyones interested in the concepts/factual backgroung behind the SH universe, heres a FAB guide to all the games, as well as myths and other cool info... It will also help explain my story/ideas better for those who haven't played any SH's before.:D Takes a while to read it all though:o

Silent Hill - a town, where strange events happen more often than anywhere
else… Other worlds… Eternal memories… Birthing of Gods and mysterious
disappearances… Is there any logic to these seemingly unexplainable
things?
What is the driving force behind them? Are they interconnected?
The primary goal of Part 1 is to try and give a logical explanation to
all the supernatural events, basing all conclusions on official info from the
games or other sources. But remember, that everything here is THEORIES, so you
are not supposed to see it as the one and only true explanation. I hope these
explanations help you to understand the plot of the series better.

1. The Concept.

1-1. Power of the Mind.
The main ideas of the Silent Hill series are closely connected with
parapsychological and philosophical theories in the real world. It is
considered, that every human thought and emotion possesses a certain
amount of force, which can be characterized as "psychic energy". And the
stronger this thought or emotion is, the greater it's psychoenergetic
potential. In a nutshell, this energy allows the feeling to affect the
world around the person in general and other people in particular. In
other words, the products of one's psychic activities are not limited to
their own inner self, but can have outside effects.
That is exactly what the book in the school library of SH1 was supposed
to relay: "...Poltergeists are among these. Negative emotions, like fear,
worry, or stress manifest Into external energy with physical effects" -
thus, inner psychic activity can have outside effects of physical nature
and can even create such phenomena as poltergeists. That is a good
example of psychic energy. According to the mentioned book, negative
emotions (like fear, worry, pain or hatred) experienced by teenage girls
have the highest psychoenergetic potential. Nevertheless, we have seen
strong manifestations of this energy in various people in the games - be
it a middle-aged clerk, mourning the loss of his wife, a desperate and
suicidal girl, who murdered her father, or an orphan boy, who wants to
find his mother more than anything else in the world.
Another good example would be a particular girl, whose psychic energy was
so strong, that an entire town called Silent Hill was devoured by the
darkness of her inner world ("Due to the power of Alessa's thoughts, the
town is transfigured into the otherworld" - the role of *thoughts* is
noted in Lost Memories). We can also recall the negative feelings of the
prisoners of the Toluca Prison and the victims of the plague. These have
twisted the "power of the town" ("because of the unforeseen deaths of the
town's population, as well as the thoughts and feelings of the prisoners,
the original power that the town held was gradually distorted" - LM)

1-9. Who is vulnerable to the influence of such "powers"?
It's obvious, that the most susceptible would be people who have a
well-developed "sixth sense", that allows them to perceive the otherwise
invisible mystical power in some way. But what condition must the mind
attain to be the most open to psychic influence and easily drawn inside a
subconscious world? The games make it clear, that contacts with
"otherworlds" become more probable the farther one is removed from
reality. For example:
a) In a state of sleep (Richard Braintree, Frank Sunderland)
b) In a state of intoxication (Cynthia Velasquez), especially with
heavier drug substances (Peter Walsh)
c) In a low-visibility environment - like fog or darkness. According to
Lost Memories "Mist and darkness obstruct the horizon by creating a
condition in which visibility is limited. In other words, the boundary
between heaven and earth is obscured, which suggests a blurring of the
line between dream and reality".
d) We know that a person unhappy with life tends to withdraw from reality
more and more. Thus, the minds of people who have endured much suffering
in their lives are especially vulnerable to the influence of subconscious
worlds. This is confirmed by Lost Memories: "people with afflicted minds
are easily drawn to the otherworld". And that is why Silent Hill, when it
becomes a concentration point for numerous people's psychic energies,
starts to "attract" other sufferers with darkness in their hearts, akin
to a magnet.

Seriously, the link is a VERY good read, and I found out things that SH fans have wanted to know for years.
It gives a good insight into the reality behind it all (Theories though) and character anaysis in depth. Features all 4 SH games.

Tried reloading the project, but still missing the textures...
Can someone test/fix them for me? Open the tr4 file in Trviewer and see if it is right. Otherwise, it'll just be boring old TRLE and not like the pics above:(

No ingame stuff, as FRAPS doesn't work for me and nothing has been started yet.
Its 10 MB but its about 1:11 mins long so thats actually small..

I know that!:ton: I CAN'T start building properly as I am havin probs with the textures not loading in Rviewer.

I really need to use Rviewer, or else the quality of the visuals will go down LOADS with rubbish griddish levels in NGLE:(
Tried putting them on Coastal.tga, but the textures appear cut in half and mixed up?(the tga file was twice as wide than normal in photoshop)

EDIT:
Replaced tut1.prj tga with yours, output wad (in original winroomedit), used tom2pc (original) and opened tr4 in Rview.
Textures look ok so maybe you have too many in your level.

Have you tried opening your tr4 in SkateboardKid's fexinspect 2.0? SK's fexinspect includes some of the functionality of Rview (export/import dxf room and texturing functions). It's the same code though so you may encounter the same problems.

Try meta2tr with your tr4 to see if it has problems with your textures too.

Other levels load fine with no probs.
Even made a NEW tga with other textures, but it still loads the same as before - and this time I used a normal sized tga from the extra ones (London etc)
Skateboards FI 2.0 won't even start up as its missing something... dx something with lots of numbers and 0's?

I am soooo f***ed off. Everytime I try to do the simplest thing in the world, that I have done before.. it always balls up:(

EDIT: Tried for the millienth time, some textures only show in the click box below the normal pallette!?
Clicked on them and it spat out random textures of laras hand (etc) instead of the actual texture I clicked...
Looks like this problem can't be fixed! I really can't see what I did wrong, EVERYTHING was right. Must be the Rviewer playin' up?

To get SK's fexinspect working you have to first get the normal fexinspect by TurboPascal and then put SK's fexinspect exe file in the same folder.

See if the textures look ok when you open the TR4 in TurboPascal's TRtexture 2.6 or RaiderCroft's PixStr2.2.

Edit:
Used NGLE with your textures this time and applied some 128 x 128 and 256 x 256 textures to a new project. Still no problems opening the level in Rview. If you used big textures in your level you will need to use Panel textures 2 in Rview's Textures menu to see them properly since the other panel max display size is 64 x 64. The screen shot below shows the TR4 opened in SK fexinspect 2.0 which can display 128 x 128 textures in the groupbox. If you select a 256 x 256 texture it will display in the texture table section though.

Sweety...I know that this might be a disadvantage to you but...How about you not use TRVIEWER. Because it sounds like it's screwing your level up. And it's also screwing with you:o. I only use NGLE to build my levels, and that's really all you need to use.:hug:

The current texture set sucks in NGLE, as it all looks fake and blocky! I need all the textures, but they won't fit!
I have a few shop signs and stuff, but it would all look repetetive and make it look bad. With no interesting geometry, this game is gonna look like crap... Should I miss out the streets and carry on the rest, or just cancel?
I have enough to do as it is right now, so TRLE is the least of my worries... and its not like I know any of you guys so i really couldn't care. What do ya think? Its just not gonna work without Rviewer..:(

Download the version of fexinspectSK in the second post at this link (http://www.larashome.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23357&pid=473773&mode=threaded&show=&st=&#) it has the texture tab for retexturing. Rename the exe fexinspectSK2.exe or something before placing in the fexinspect folder.

Can you post a screenshot of what the room looks like in TombViewer or ingame?

EDIT:
The room textures cannot have a texture ID of 4096 or above. Maybe this was dcw123's problem. Texture 4096 will be rendered as Texture 0, 4097 as Texture 2 etc.

It looks just like in the pic above. Can't figure out why, as other levels work fine...

I'm gonna carry on, however I will have to skip the street level and carry off from the Hospital (which was level 2) and continue from there:(
I researched some spooky hospitals to get the look right;)I had to collect my own textures, as the SH ones are down ATM:cen:
The alternate hospital will be styled like in the movie "Session 9", which the SH team were big fans off and drew inspiration too;)
Heres a quick poster I did, am sorting new textures out and need to make some hospital objects (beds, gurneys,wheelchairs etc)

IT'S OK REALLY. It doesn't matter that the level's texture quality is bad, or that shops are repetative. ;) Just keep going and don't stop ok.

Tried using another level and swapping the Lara objects into Karnak instead.
STILL it refused to work! Its obviously the WAD that is causing the problem, but I need it to play with:cen:
This time, the textures were of Karnaks objects. I loaded another level and it worked fine with the new textures!?:confused:
I guess its just have to use NGLE now huh..:(

Delete all of your unused objects, and YOU CAN NOT USE THE SAME OBJECT WAD FOR TWO DIFFERENT LEVELS!:) DO NOT CONVERT THE WAD TO 130v because it is filled with glitches, and there is no use.
