View Full Version : Tranferring files via wireless.
Every time I try to transfer large (700mb) files to my dads computer it keeps disconnecting after about 5 minutes of transfer - I use a wireless USB adaptor XG-750A I think. Can anyone help please?

Try CD's or DVD's! :D
Try CD's or DVD's! :D
The reason I want to transfer it is because I want to burn it to DVD ;). Seeing as I cant afford a burner I need to use my dads.

Isn't an USB Stick the easiest possibility? :)
I think it is but if she/he had one then he/she won't ask :D

ok! That's a big problem! :D
I'll state that :
I don't have a memory stick.
I don't have my own laptop.
And I'm a she :pThe only method I can think of is using the wireless connection, hence why I want some help as to why my dongle stops working after a certain amount of time transferring it - as if I'm throttling it too much.
split the file then on jillion pieces and send one by one .... winrar is your friend

That's quite a good idea, I'll try that. :tmb: The thing is, how ?
how? that's a different question :)
1st do you have winrar? if you do
select your file - > right click -> add to archives ... -> general -> split to volumes, bytes (it's in the left bottom) good luck

was going to suggest setting up a network share of the folder in which the files are stored. Use Dads computer to open the folder in "my network places". If you see them, you should be good to load the files into a project on his DVD burning software.
OR:
Share Dads DVD burner on the network, put your disc in it, go to "My network places" on your computer, open his shares - you should see his DVD burner drive. If so, you should be good to use your DVD burning software to burn the DVD using his drive. You might need to have drivers for his DVD drive installed on your PC/laptop when doing this way. - This method is similar to sharing a printer on the network.

Laura, go to Contrl panel > System > Hardware tab > Device manager, find you wireless adapter there and check if "Disable this device to save power" option is disabled as it must be.
