The last conceptual art that we get today is call "TR 8 Gauntlet Chamber".
(and there's a Europe map too )

So , any idea about the "gauntlet" ? :o

First thing that popped into my mind was the "Witchblade" lol.

Looks like a timed puzzle. Possibly a water chamber??? I notice doorways, not all that line up with the raised platforms. I hope it's more dangerous than it looks, would like to see more traps to avoid while trying to reach things. Wonder what the shaft going down the central pilar does? As well as that post sticking out the bottom of it... :mis: Maybe there are fire blasts that will come out of some of those doorways if the wrong sequence is triggered? :jmp: The word gaunlet refers to an unpassable series of obstacles, lets see CD make it seem impossible! :tmb:

I presume it's a puzzle room obviously as a definition of Gauntlet is to accept or offer a challenge.

It's probably nothing major. Most likely just a random item you'll need to collect in order to progress in the level.

Well we will have to wait to find out...

^Of course we will :D

But I too was intrigued by the Gauntlet Concept Art, as well as that huge cave area with the trees. I hope these areas look just as good in game :jmp: I can't wait for new screenshots!

Inspiration from God of War Chains of Olympus (Gauntlet of Zeus)?? :D

Gauntlet roughly means 'test';)
Basically Lara is challenged (tested), so its called the gauntlet.
There is a saying "running the gauntlet", and in Crash Bandicoot: TWOC, a level called "The Gauntlet" contains lots of traps and enemies, in a medievil castle- basically a chalenge.
Lets hope this concept art is in England - hence the Europe map and the King Arthur looking statue;)

It does but it has multiple definitions.

Gauntlet
To offer or accept a challenge; "threw down the gauntlet"; "took up the gauntlet"

A glove of armored leather; protects the hand

A glove with long sleeve

A form of punishment in which a person is forced to run between two lines of men facing each other and armed with clubs or whips to beat the victim

I think it means both.
In Silent Hill Origins, a special weapon, called Moon Gauntlets are basically metal 'gloves' that Travis can wear and attack with.:D

I´m quite excited about that chamber :D If only all the concept artworks we got kept their original names so we could know more about them :whi:

What will happen in there?

It's like a trap of a place that is full of dimensions. ;)

I think, in a way, it will be a mix of the first definition and the last one, i.e. an absolute punishment of a challenge.

Besides, we've already collected a Gauntlet - in the armor sense of the word - before, in TR4.
