How do you know who is on line? I read somewhere that there was a facility to have a peek but I've not seen it? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Yes, I remember finding something like that once...ever since I've been trying to find it again but to no avail...just keep surfing the pages!

The facility was on the main summary page of the forum; you didn't have to peek at all. The "Recent Visitors" have been disabled to increase forum's speed while browsing.

Hi Elen http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif If the on line facility was enabled would it put an end to those one post requests enquiring whether A is on line? Does this facility slow down the server? You know, I'm always seeking answers to the riddles of the 'tech'? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Hi tippucat. I can't understand your first question and yes, this facility does slow down the server.

Are there still 300 people browsing the forum now? Doesn't seem like it. Why not put the currently browsing up at the top of the forum and get rid of the statistics at the bottom? Wouldn't that work?

No, there are no 300 people browsing the forum. The statistics though don't require a lot of the server's power like the (many) links at the top of the page.

We'll test it though and see how it works when neither tlr or I is online (as someone has to disable it) http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
