View Full Version : Future title of Prince of Persia 4 unveiled !

After the old rumors stating the new name for Prince of Persia 4 could be "Prince of Persia : Ghosts of the Past" and the recent mysterious acquisition by Ubisoft of the name "Prince of Persia : Prodigy", it seems finally no one of these two names will be the definitive name of the game.

Game Informer's latest issue has just unveiled the name of the game.

[quote removed, see the update]

Still sheduled for a Q4 2008 release, POP 4 will come on Xbox360, PS3 and PC (a DS version is planned as well).

--------------------

Update : Apparently this information has been misunderstood and "Heir Apparent" wouldn't be the title of the new game.

Heir Apparent isn't the new subtitle for the game. It's just the name of the article in the new Game Informer. There was a bit of a misunderstanding with it and people think its the subtitle now, but the Ubi community people on the Ubi PoP forums told us it wasn't. I think it's going to be Prince of Persia: Prodigy, but they won't admit to it because it's not official yet (though that title shares the same website as the official site, so, probably is right). Ubidays is on May 28-29 and we'll find out more then.

Can't say I like the title, but heck, I'll get the game anyway. The Q4 release has got me worrying for Underworld though. What will people choose to buy between these two? Something tells me it won't be Underworld. Thanks for the info, Alex. :tmb:

You're welcome, and yeah lots of games will be released at the same period. I'd have to take some hard decisions. :D

About the title, I can't say I'm fond of this one. I loved the idea of "Ghosts of the Past", I liked "Prodigy" a little bit less, and this one... hmm... not sure yet.

I...really dislike that title.

I'd rather have Ghosts of the Past or Prodigy any day rather that what we have now.

I thought it said hair at first, and it was to do with shampoos. :vlol:

But seriously the name could do a lot better.

Reminds me of a Kings quest title actually...

Right, back on topic. :p

Wow you missed a lot of things then... :p

I think POP Heir Apparent will be present at the next UbiDays. Answer soon. ;)

Well, its an odd choice of title- I expect its to explain that the Prince you play as isn't the one from the original games. I quite like the little rhyming sound it has though.

I'm still gonna pick TR:U over PoP any day- I feel that its a better series, and that the PoPs I've played have been poorly handled.

That really doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as 'Sands of Time', does it? :p

No it doesn't roll off the tongue at all and if it did it'd roll off the tongue and into the bin.
I think I'll have to rename it PoP: HA
That about sums it up :)

Umm why are some people making a fuss over the freakin' title? Its not that big of a deal.

That's an awful title... Ghosts of the Past was much better. ;)

Personally, I think you can tell a lot from a title... I judge a lot of what I read, watch, and play from it. :)

I don't mind the title it's the harsh stop between the "Persia" and "Heir". Most titles flow (Tomb Raider: Legend, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect) so there's no sudden pause between one word and the next, no thought really, it's one complete motion of speech. To say "Prince of Persia: Heir Apparent" you need to pause and think between the two words. The "Heir" is pretty harsh sounding as well. "The Heir Apparent" would flow much better, it doesn't have the sudden stop nor the next part of the title begininng with a pretty harsh sounding word.

It´d have been a horrible title otherwise :o

Thanks TripOpt, glad the info as been misunderstood and thanks for posting this. I didn't like this title either.

About "Prodigy", I think it's going to be the definitive name too so, because they acquired it recently. :tmb:

No problem guys, I'm glad I could clear it up. A bunch of sites were reporting that as the subtitle too, but like I said it was a misunderstanding. I didn't like Heir Apparent either. Prodigy was kind of weird at first, but I think it's alright. I'm a huge PoP fan and this is probably my most anticipated game this year. I guess the title isn't that big a deal if the game is really good, but Heir Apparent was kind of...bleh. Anyway keep an eye out for Ubidays on May 28-29. Oh here's a speed art video of the new prince (sorry if it's already been posted):

Yeah but comon' you can't judge a game when there has been no actual gameplay footage and just artwork designs.
