"The 2008 Polar Music Prize is awarded to the British group Pink Floyd for their monumental contribution over the decades to the fusion of art and music in the development of popular culture. Through extensive sonic experimentation, they captured the mood and spirit of a whole generation in their reflections and attitudes. Pink Floyd managed to evolve and create exciting music and albums over the years, from Piper at the Gates of Dawn to the monumental Wall they built in 1979 and their last The Division Bell in 1994. And also made us all discover the Dark Side of the Moon. When rock'n'roll developed, Pink Floyd was foremost in shaping the sounds that would influence artists for ever."

In my opinion the song 'Echoes' from the the Meddle album was the gestation of 'The Dark Side of the Moon' and the modern Floyd.

Here's the original 'Echoes' video that I saw in the theater in three parts:
Pink Floyd - Echoes (part 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hurn3-Y2b1g)
Pink Floyd - Echoes (part 2) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y1bTyOMqqU)
Pink Floyd - Echoes (part 3) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqmJKXNW6ow)

This interpretation is far more interesting:
