Has anyone in London or New York checked this out yet?

Is it as exciting as it sounds or is it just a TV and a video camera?

From May-June 2008, artist Paul St George will exhibit two outdoor interactive video installations linking London and New York City in a simulated "telectroscope". Although St George claims that the device works using a transatlantic tunnel started by his great-grandfather, it is actually the product of two high definition cameras connected through a fiberoptic link.

This would have been far more interesting if we didn't live in a time when 10 year olds have cameras on their computers and can see each other even when on the other side of the world!

I mean, am I right? This just doesn't seem like a big deal at all...

Yes, it stopped being a big deal, but it's all about the presentation here, and I think it's a funny idea still.

yeah, i'm right there with you. my friend's children vid-conference with his sister in the army all the time. they're like 5-9 yrs old and they can do it all by themselves. i don't find this impressive.

should have dug a tunnel. that would have been something.
