Has anyone had any nasty accidents?
October 4 years ago, me and my sister went out on our bikes to hire Scream from the video store. On the way back my sis was way ahead of me, and i turned to the left so i would be riding on the pavement, but the bike slipped as i was turning and fell off and whacked my forehead on this stone wall that was on the other side of the path, everything went black and when i woke up my vision was shaking and was seriously blurred and i touched my forehead and it felt like mush, and it was bleeding so i was collecting the blood in my hand for some reason so there wasnt any on the floor, and i shouted my sister and she stopped and turned round and when she rode back to me she was like omg, and some cyclist man stopped and stood with me while my sister went to this building site where she used one of the builders cell phones to call my mom, anyway the builder took me and my sister to hospital and i looked in the wing mirror of the car and i could see my own skull, god it was nasty. Anyway to cut a long story short i was put to sleep and stitched back up at about midnight later that day. they couldnt see a vein on my hand so they had to gas me and then inject me in the wrist, but i refused to put the gas mask thing over my face and in the end they took that part off and just sprayed the nozzle in my face lol, as i was falling asleep everyones voices went slow and deep, it was so weird, i even remember saying just before everything went black, your voices have gone funny. After the operation my face went all swollen and i looked like something from a horror movie. anyway i am now scarred for life with a 3 inch long scar on my forehead. That'll teach me for not wearing a helmet!

I've accidentally slit my wrist before-i was working during the summer last year as a fence erector and i slipped on some grease-the rest is history, and i've suffered a concussion after jumping out of my bedroom window when i was 7, i got a tenner out of it though

I can honstly say, I have had no accidents as such!

However, I used to take drugs, and once I had a really bad trip, I went like out in the middle of a road and was yelling, it was after that that my parents put me in the hospital, I lost the love of my life, it was the worst time ever, but I met some wonderful people in rehab and I credit them for helping me get my life back together, I still keep in contact with them!

I haven't had any accidents either, but I have had surgery twice. One time was to remove my toncils and adnoids and the other time was because I got cat scratch fever. I had this huge tumor looking thing on the bottom of my jaw and it was very painful. But every thing went ok. As far as injuries, no. I am actually shocked because I am always doing dangerous stuff. lol!

When i was about 11 i had just gotten done taking my bike apart and putting it back together. after i did that i was going uptown to see a movie or something and someone said my name, so i looked back and pulled on the handlebars... well i forgot to tighten them and they pulled out - then the front wheen went brezerk and i flipped and went face first into cement f**kin up my face. it was so not cool, since i had a conference the next day! lol

STORY 2

last november i was heading to school a little late. i was told not to drive that day and told to take the bus, well that ****ed me off so i drove anyway - it was really foggy and i didnt clear off my windshield (i made a little area i could see out of) and i was about 300 ft. away from my driveway and then i noticed a black line... then i noticed it was a bumper to a MidAmerican energy repair truck and i was going about 45 and couldnt stop in time so SMASH! lol i ended up breaking my collarbone and getting the WORST brises i've ever seen! lol you could see where my seatbelt was and where i hit the steering wheen with my face!

I fell down the stairs a few years ago, bruised ribs and a 3 inch cut on my back, but nothing compared to what you lot have been through. Also when I was very small I was playing at cowboys and indians when I fell and the toy gun I had tied round my hips cut into my side, so now I have a small scar there.

most members may already know:

i had a nasty fall in the shower April 22 this year - still recovering... cut through one of my quadracept muscles and my knee cap by putting my leg through the glass door... surgery and both internal and external stitches...

in hospital and in a splint for two weeks and on crutches for months, and swelling still continues... but i played my first game of basketball a few weeks ago so im practically back, but its still sore and swollen and i went to the doctors for it today.

It makes you appreacite your limbs... and i couldnt put my shoes or sox on for weeks which was bad... having to rely on others to help. one of the worst things was that after the operation the physio came in and said, okay lets take a walk... and i couldnt walk!!! - it was a scary feeling... but days later i was walking (kinda)...

thanks for all your rupport when i was injured guys - believe it or not - it did help my recovery... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/grouphug.gif

My injuries/accidents seem pretty mild compared to some of the ones posted here.
Let's see....I can remember stepping on a nail, while walking outside in my bare feet when I was little. Needed a tetanus shot for that.
When I was about 12 I was trying to put the storm window up by myself and it slipped. Fell right on my foot...mainly on my big toe. Sliced the nail almost all the way through. The nail only stayed in place by a slight bit on either side of it.
About 8 years ago I accidently stabbed myself in my left hand with a pair of scissors. Don't ask. <g> My mom had to help me get dressed...I was um...starkers....and she took me to the ER. Got a couple of stiches for that.
About 6 years ago while rushing along a street in Boston, I tripped and fell...hit my head.
It's true what they say about head wounds bleeding a lot. I was more concerned that I didn't get any blood on my suede jacket than anything else. Didn't need anything more than a bandaid for that.

Compared to your injuries, I feel very lucky. All that's happened to me is:
When I was about 4 I charged down some steps and fell over, landing face first on the gravel driveway. I got a bit of gravel stuck in my forehead, so my mum took me to the doctor's and he gave me a couple of those stick-on stitches that dissolve. I still have the scr.
I've cut myself numerous times with my penknives, mostly when sharpening them without paying attention, cleaning them with my fingers, or trying to hack something to pieces and missing.
I was run down by someone on a bike in my primary school, primary 2 I think, and it gave me a really sore open gash above my knee. I still have the scar.
I was bitten by my pet rat when I tried to separate him from the other one with whom he was trying to kill, and he bit my finger really hard. I still have the scar.
Nothing like being shot or stabbed or breaking a bone though... I'm really lucky...

I don't think I've ever been injured in a serious way, can't remember. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast.Haha.And it's only noon here. There was this time that I was riding my bike down a steep hill, and the handlebars got all shaky and I started going all over the place. Then it turned sideways and I got thrown off.I landed on my back in the ditch. There was this huge place under my elbow where the skin was all bloody and ripped and...ugh.It wasn't all that bad, except our neighbors had cut all of these bushes away from their fence, thrown them in said ditch, and guess what? They had thorns! How ironic. Anyways,I ended up giving the little scar I got by my elbow a nickname. It was like this round lookin pink spot. And so, the little spot got named Spot, which it was. Um...did that make any sense at all? I'm just checking, because I hate typing. Ok, I'll shut up now. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

First problem I can recall was when I was four. I fell out of my spaceship in Saskatoon. :( ie: fell off an intergalactic trunk) and needed head stitches. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif

Later I fell down the steps of a diving board in Wales, and then cut my leg climbing over a fence to get my football (soccerball):- more stitches.

A load of rugby injuries - but that's to be expected.

I've been chased by nasty bits of fauna, like cobras and elephants. The closest to death was malaria and amoeabic dysentery.

But, far and away the worst accidents were falling into some of the worst relationships ever. Believe me folks - THOSE scars will never heal.

I fell 40 feet down a cliff once onto the motorway, and broke both bones in my left wrist. Just after I landed, they tell me (I was unconscious), I was just missed by a long distance truck! Compared with some the injuries you guys have had though, that pales into insignificance!!!

Woa Trevor, that sounds serious! I'm glad you were ok though, I dunno what we'd do without you here. hehe. Well, I have a story that just happened TODAY! Well, it didn't happen to me though it happened to a little kid about 5 years old named Noah. Any way, there was a youth event at the church which was a BBQ and a volleyball tournament. The keyword here is YOUTH as in teenagers. Any way our youth pastor brought his little kids, all of hwich are under the age of 10, so they were all in the way and we had to deal with them. Well, after the tournament and the BBQ we still had like an hour to play so we decided to play ultimate frisbee on the pavement. I didn't know the kids were there Iwasn't paying attention. ANy way I was running after this guy named Brandon. I had to guard him so I was running forward and him backward sort of. Any way we are both very competitive so we were running so fast and then I see Noah, the kid just standing there and since I saw him I sorta got out of his way, but since Brandon was running backward he didn't see him and he bumped into him and Noah fell flat backward on his head, and you know how little kids are they never break their falls. Any way, I thought it would be no big deal so I planed on helping the kid up and saying, " Ok go play away from us." SO I picked him up, and Brandon was right beside him because he felt bad. Well, after I helped Noah up I noticed loads of blood was gushing from his head and I was kind of worried, but I made sure I stayed calm throughout this whole ordeal. Brandon started to panic he was like, ' Oh my God he's bleeding A LOT!" And I kept saying , " It's going to be ok." And so Brandon was saying the same, he calmed down. Well, Jordan ( He is huge, like 7 foot tall) was in panic mode and he was like, ' Hurry put pressure on his head!!!" So Brandon did that while I was in front of Noah, holding his hands and sort of rubbing his arms telling him every thing was ok and that he was a big boy and all. Well, Tim started to panic he was like, " GET HIS DAD!! HURRY!!!!" but that only lasted a second he managed to calm down. Jordan had to walk away he was so scared. But every thing is ok now, it wasn't as bad as it looked. It looked like a disaster! Brandon thought Noah was gunna bleed to death. They had to take him to the emergency room (we stayed at church and resumed our game OFF the pavement), and after they stopped the bleeding they knew it wasn't as bad as it looked. He will need stitches though. But every thing went ok. I am ticked off though because our youth pastor shouldn't have brought his kids in the first place. You don't let kids play sports with teens, you are just asking for trouble there. ANy way, thank God Noah is ok. He is still there I think, this happened like 5 hours ago. So if there are any CHristians here please pray for Noah that he will get better, and pray for Brandon that he doesn't feel so bad. Thanks. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

24-08-03, 07:13
Wow, what a panic that must have been, Mel. I'll pray for them for sure. Heads always bleed heaps, and look a lot worse than they really are, because there's more pressure on the head, which really pushes the blood out. You won't foreget that in a hurry!

Melonie Tomb Raider
24-08-03, 18:50
Well, I just found out today how every thing went and he needed 5 staples I think it was. He is doing really well from what I have heard. Thanks for your prayers Trevor. ANy way, about the injury. I am kind of mad at our youth pastor for acting the way he did. He is mad at us for this and it wasn't our fault, he shouldn't have brought his kids in the first place. He keeps saying he isn't mad, but every one knows he is by the was he acts toward us. It's not our fault, in reality it was his fault because kids are not allowed to go to teen activities, because stuff like this happens. I feel so sorry for Brandon, he didn't show up at church today. He must be feeling pretty bad. I hope he feels better and realizes it wasn't his fault.

When I was like, 4 I think it was, I went over too my friends house to play. They lived on a military base, as did I (Andrews Air-Force Base). Well, they had a sliding glass door, and I would stand right in front of it and fall, letting the door catch me. A little bit later, my friends mom opened the door to clean it while I was in the other room playing w/Spiderman toys (ah, the memories!). So I came back to show him how I could fall like that, and I thought the door was closed. Well, it was realy open, so I started too fall towards the door and I fell straight on the cement patio, on my face! Nothing serieous happend, just a few tears and lots of laughs! :D

Once when i was a little kid i was playing around by a door and my best friends mum slammed the door on my thumb and cut the top of it off.
It was really gross, not to mention painfull, I could see my thumb bone sticking out of my thumb.
My mum had to pick up the top of my thumb and tie it back on with a bandage untill i got to the hospital!!!

It takes more than a shell suit and bread to do that! (Do you remember Ron Yates and or the Liver Birds?)

Please, people a bit less detail on injuries. Some people are from Liverpool and may faint.

PS, never had a shell suit, thought they were terrible http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif

PPS, don't worry about me fainting, when it gets to the scarey bits my wife covers my eyes for me :D

I was hospitalised last year on Oct 2002.Why kinda sickness?U wont believe it,it's called ITP,low platelets, easily cause internal bleeding.Well,i am ok for now,and as for medication?no medication,i am depending on STEROIDS.Well, drop it off after my platelets has normal. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Now,i just came back from the hospital for my finger trigger problem. It's been there for 6 years, and i think i gotta take care of it.U know, finger trigger caused by internal injuries on finger where you have trouble gripping your fist?....

It was really scary. My parents were worried out of their minds!

I had my toncels and adnoids removed at 6, and then when I was about 10 I had cat scratch fever, and there was this huge lump/tumor on the left side of my jaw. Dad was so worried, he thought it was cancer. But they removed it, and every hting is just fine. I still have the scar though. haha. I don't mind it. It was kind of ridiculous how much blood they'd take. I went to the hospital A LOT, like at least once a week for a long time. They took blood every time too, haha. I was scared the first time I needed my shot, but then they did it so often it didn't scare me any more. I have scars from those shots since they used to many. It's not so bad though, you have to look realy close to see them. I've never really had a serious injury. I'm shocked I haven't, since I am always doing dangerous stuff. hahaha. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif

Oh forgot 'bout one thing! All this talk about staples reminds me of somthing that happend to me. I was on the way to the library w/my mom, and I was in the back seat. Right as we pulled into the parking lot, I accidentally stapled my pinkie finger! It hurt so bad! Also, when I was about 7, I went to my great-grandma's house down the road too eat some yummy pancakes. I was trying to open the syrup bottle, but the stupid plastic seal wouldn't come off. So I got smart, and tried to open the seal with a fork. I was succeeding, until the fork slipped and went through my thumb! It hurt REALLY bad! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif Funny, I didn't need stiches or anything past a Band-aid & a kiss from mom! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/clown.gif I don't even have a scar!
