I was reading that topic that topic that has been closed down and stopped reading it half-way.
T'excite pas, cara!
People here sure can get anger at the smallest of things. Relax! Drink some herbal tea or something. :rolleyes:

Cato

Like, I've been reading some of the closed posts and nothing's wrong with 'em. One person's spam is another person's lie, right? Are you people just getting carried away with the "close topic" button on your suped up keyboard? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif

janny_c.

Hello,

This may be consider spam, so probabilities fot this topic to get close again are very high. Please stop spaming the forum, that might be why the other one got closed.

Cato
29-05-04, 12:43
THIS is NOT spamming. It may be spamming to some. But not to me. That's why they shouldn't be shut down. It ain't fair. It ain't right. So I'll continue till I lose ALL meaning. *Sits back on chair, big satisfied grin.* http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Hehe.
I think a lot of peopel r gettign obssessive now, courtesy of those 2 threads,that r now CLOSED btw!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/silent.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif

Spamming is:
Post 2/more posts that have same meaning,double posts,or that u can edoit in the previous one;
Violence/swearing/attacking members;
Saying something that has no meaning to the thread or OFF-topic totally;
welcoming some1 in EVERYthread,EVERY person (moderators,u for example,it's ok,they know they'r welcomed for God's sake just please stop posting 5 of those in one topic :rolleyes: );
and other UNnecessary cr*p!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

TheEveningStar
29-05-04, 12:53
But it is also, posting threads with no meaning or just repeating what other threads have said before.

ELEN

Cato and Janny, don't become reactive. This forum simply does not support spam that has to do with threads that don't have something particular to say. The threads that were closed down (the ones you refered above) were threads that repeated the SAME thing from the SAME person ON PURPOSE. Some threads were closed becuase they encouraged arguments between the members. This forum does not like arguments. I think I've made myself clear.

ah cmon. we used to spam ALL THE TIME and have fun and nobody cared (the never ending thread etc etc)! n now i have to think twice before posting smth cause it might be considered spam! damn this just isnt the good ol' trf!

ELEN
29-05-04, 17:45
TC, posting in one thread (which is considered as a spam thread) is not bad. Also, posting in various threads is not spam as well. All the fuss was created about one thread that was posted more than one time from the same person on purpose. That is all http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

TopCat.TopBeing

howdy elen.
i know that lol http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif but havent u noticed that everyone's started calling everything SPAM. in this particular thread for instance. do u guys really think it's spam? cato just voiced his/her (sorry cato but i still dont know if ur a girl or a boy. now that's weird :D ) opinion and started a discussion. wots wrong with that?!1 it's just that ppl used to discuss on any topic n now ppl either dont say a word or say 'stop posting ****. it's spam. blah blah.' isn't that STUPID?!

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif Elen and everyone!!

Thanks Elen http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif for the reply. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif It will really help me!

Now I have a question: the "Three word history" and all alike-threads are NOT considered spam? :confused:

ELEN
29-05-04, 18:42
TC, did you see me saying that this particular thread was spam? I just gave some explanations because the "spam" meaning has been confused with something else, and Cato agreed.

... and this thread might be a good chance for all of us to make some things clear, but it could be done under friendly circumstances. The other thread was full of arguments, and do you know why? Because it started under hostile posts from various members. I would never close down a thread which could have interesting replies.

Well, there's a difference in SPAM (AHH!! run from the horrible spam!) and fun spam. The NET (I just realized that for the first time. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ), 3 World Story, etc. were all fun spam. But the spam now, is it really necessary to have 10 threads in one day that are all "Hi, what's new?" ?

Trinity34
29-05-04, 18:51
I was always under the impression it was ok to post any kind of thread like "hi everyone" just because there was no chat here so its ok to use the forum for this. I know on some other forums threads like this would not be ok.

This is one of the most pathetic threads I've ever seen in my life, not to mention senseless, disrespectful, and downright rude. Not to sound like an ass-kisser here, but Elen and tlr in particular do a hell of a lot of work keeping this site running so you people have a place to whine about how much the Hall of Seasons is ****ing you off, or whatever is you want to talk about. They don't HAVE to do it. It earns them no MONEY. Yet, they do it anyway out of kindness and unmeasurable volumes of pleasantness, the concept of which I don't think some people here understand.

Rules are rules, and are down to the disgression of the admin and site owners to enforce them. Unfortunately, some rules have grey areas, and may not always seem clear in tricky instances. It is these grey areas that appear to be riling people up at the moment. However, in such instances it is up the designated authorities to make judgements on them in a manner they see fit and fair. What they certainly do not do is orchestrate arguments like these on purpose just to spite one or two easily annoyed idiots. Get that out of your systems immediately.

Btw, in reading this thread I don't think I've seen as many complete muppet comments in the one place since Tony Blair last gave a sermon in the house of commons. Would you check out these little gems?....

Cato
"This is NOT spamming. It may be spamming to some, but not to me"
Well by that logic then why don't one of us just put some naked Lara porn up in gen chat and say "Well it might be sick to some, but not to me". Let's all become Charlie Bronsons why don't we and take the forum law into out own hands? That'll make us real tough men! (Not).

Right now, I'm going to plant me feet on the ground, hold my keyword by my side and dare ANYONE to shut this post down
Oooh, you big brave boy you! Do you play 'chicken' in front of the cars down your street as well?

TopCatbeing
ah cmon. we used to spam ALL THE TIME and have fun and nobody cared
That may have been the case, but now it's being prevented because it sucks, not to mention devalues the quality of the forums. If you want to post in a trigger happy spam-based site then drop me a pm, because I could quite happily point you in the direction of one. 95% of the members here though are a bit more intelligent than that. For the most part they would much rather see thought provoking discussion threads and sensible conversation. I don't know tlr all that well, but I'm sure this was his intention for the site, not to have it turned into a moron's playground where the goal of superior post count outranks the importance of mature debate.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

By all means continue to provoke superb aministrators like Elen if you wish, but if she jacks in her position because she gets sick of the all the hassle then you'll have no-one else to blame but yourselves. I'm a member of 9 forums (most of which I don't visit all that often admittedly), and believe me, you have THE BEST admin you could possibly have here compared to some of the others I've seen. You are very very lucky people. Just think carefully before you go on a crusade to wind people like Elen up. You won't be being clever or rebellious. You're just making a prat of yourself. At the very least, take it to the damn pms already.

"Hi everyone" from Trinity34, "Hi all" from Celli, "Hello people" from Thorn", "How is everyone?" from Crazy, "Hey peeps" from Elen.... and all these the same part of the day... I think this is too much. Unfortunately, the forum software does not support sticky threads, so that we can have a "Hi everyone" thread at the top of the page.
