Just a little ideia I had while we don't get new TR media. I think it's a distraction from all the negativity, I hope it works and haven't been done before!

We are going to start with TR-1, and then TR-2, and then so on. At the end, put all of the winners from each game together and choose the best scene on the TR Games ever!

Gonna leave the thread getting votes for a while, and then the other ones will close only when it reaches the same ammount of votes. So... What's your favorite FMV/Cutscene from Tomb Raider 1?

In my opinion, the best ones are the arrival to the first level; the lift one, and the motorcicle scene. But, to choose just one, I think my favorite is... entering Natla's office!

entering Natla's office here. Mainly due to the reading of the monk's diary which always felt awesome and mysterious to me. Second place would go to Tihocan's tomb scene for much the same reasons.

Ah...Greece. 12 years have passed and it's still unmatched. On a league of it's own.

The vision. Simply loved Lara going all trippy. :) Entering Natla's office was nice too. Loved the elevator ride bit and reading the diary.

It's a close call, but the motorcycle scene gets my vote. Just a huge sense of accomplishment when you finally finish Egypt and then you're rewarded with this incredible and thrilling FMV. Fantastic.

My favourite one was with Natla and Lara, when they were in the spinnng machine room in Atlantis. Chatting away until Lara tries to shot the scion, but Natla stops her :(
If she did shoot it, it may have made more sense to why the Abomination was born legless?

The cutscene where Lara emerges from Sanctuary of the Scion and is ambushed by Natla and her goons. Her blurry eyed vision as she comes out of the mountain, getting the Scion and her guns taken off her... and then that beautiful dive into the ocean. Stunning. And not to mention:

"Well!? Kill her!"

The scene where Lara follows and jumbs on Natla's yacht (before Natla's mines).
I remember that all the fmv's looked so amazing to me back then!:D
It's incredible how much 3D animation has progressed since then.

I hope Lara's yacht will be explorable in TRU:)

Reading the monks diary in Natla's office. I just like the feel of the ransacked office and then finding the old diary and the actual words written - "Relocated to St Francis's Folly, new temptations torment me..." And then arriving at the old monastry and Lara finding an old bean can.

Followed by...

"I'll harness it right up your..."
"Wait, we're talking about the artifact here?"
The cutscene with Lara and Larson (good in both versions btw) but I still really like this one.

Third place - "Here lies the body of Tihocan". Nice. :) And this scene genuinely made me feel like I had found something powerfully lost and sacred when I first played TR1.

Oooh yeah, that was so good! All the cutscenes after Peru were the ones that I was the most excited to see on Anniversary, and I liked them there too!

It's really hard to choose among The Motorcycle scene, The Natla's Office scene and the scene with Larson at the end of Tomb of Qualopec - all fabulous scenes, I think. :jmp:

Canyon deffinately, where lara gets ambushed by natla's henchmen. I love the cowboy, he says "howdy." ever so casually, its like, "Hi, im stealing your guns and am gonna kill you but im gonna let natla get to you first." :p
Lara's reply is "Afternoon." Although she is probibly thinking, "As soon as i escape, youre gonna be the first to die." which is true. :p

For me, it's the motorcycle jump over the yacht. Lara speeds to the coast and we see the yacht motoring out to sea. There's a road out onto the point - could she use it? The camera pans left to emphasize the road - yea, go for it, Lara! And she does! A roaring run, a beautiful launch off the seat, and she achieves her goal!

I really had a sense at the point that the game was playing itself WITH me, like a good pal.

I guess it would be *The Vision for me.

There was one time I watched it... And I had seen it before, but that one time.... It just affected me in a way that I can't explain. By the end of it I had to gasp for breath and tears had run down my face. :(

*Is this the one where the camera zooms into Lara's eye, then she sees how Atlantis was destroyed, or something like that?

Breaking into Natla's office was always my favourite, although l actually preferred her shooting the cable in TRA rather than having the patience to cut through it.

It's so hard to decide, so many impressing cutscenes ...
Somehow you always managed to name the cutscenes after the part which wasn't the best of it for me.

The best 4 were for me the wolf fight in the intro, the scene where she KOs Larson, when she leaves the cave and gets ambushed by the villains (so little, so alone and still has the courage to escape) and when she just saves herself from the fall with Natla.

I really am torn between the Break-In and the Motorcycle Ride - but I think I'm going to have to go with the first. I just love Lara flying up that lift-shaft - and I like a girl who can handle a blowtorch!

oddly mine is the meeting between lara and larson at the very start in calcutta. I love that lara, who at the time was unknown, was being concealed whilst the audience got a foreshadowing of her being a bit of a hard ass. :D

My favourite is where she flies up the building and you see the city in the distance. And I like the way she sits and reads in Natla's office reading

I like the canyon as it is a long fmv and it is enjoyable all the way through and you also see what Natla truly is and the story unfolds completely.

I may put up an official thread on each tomb raider forum with all fmvs and cutscenes from each game! ^^

I forgot to vote, sorry! I vote the canyon FMV, it's simply brilliant. The way Natla henchmen capture Lara, her scape, the ride through the canyon, how she get inside the boat......and the final scene in wich she jumps at the water heading for the isle in the sunset.......beautiful. :D

I typed up the dialogue for the intro FMV, im going to do them all, here you go...

Tomb Raider 1: Intro FMV

Larson – What’s a man gotta do to get that kind of attention from you?

Lara – It’s hard to say exactly, but, you seem to be doing fine.

Larson – Well, great. Though truth is it aint me that want ya.

Lara – Oh?

Larson – No, Miss Jacqueline Natla does, you know, creator of all things bright and beautiful, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh.

Natla – Seal it Larson.

Larson – Ma’am.

Natla – Feast your eyes on this Lara, how does that make your wallet rumble?

Lara – I’m sorry, I only play for sport.

Natla – Then you’d like a big park? Peru? Vast mountain ranges to cover, sheer walls of ice, rocky crags, savage winds and there’s this little trinket. An age old artifact of mystical powers buried in the unfound tomb of qualipeck. That’s my interest. You could leave tomorrow, are you busy tomorrow?
