in an article it said its about Lara trying to find Thor's hammer. but we were under the assumption that it was something like the Wayeb, and the 5 missing days of the Mayan calander, where a portal is opened to the Underworld..... or is it both?

So sorry if this has already been asked:):)

I remember when the first info leaked and the missing days stuff was just fans writting what they thought, based on the pics and that it was in Mexico. It also had underworld mentioned, so we thought it made sense.

Next thing, all the mags announced it as if it was confirmed, and I'm confused, until now, it is really was official or only the fan thing got blown out of proportion.

I'm wondering if there's a connection between the hammer and swords... some Being(s) gave swords to many great warriors, or made them great warriors by giving them swords... did they give other weapons as well?

Are the swords and hammers similar? The sword opens the gateway to avalon, which could be interpreted as heaven.. or a good world anyways.. maybe the hammer opens the gateway to hell??

So do we have too opposing weapons... one given to righteous knights and warriors and another given to evil warriors??

I think the hammer has some role in starting the Wayeb.... pure speculation from someone who has far too many thoughts:p

@ Jaywalker - Are you saying that the Wayeb and Mayan calender thing isnt true?

It's probably both. Thor's hammer being just one artifact to collect in an epic storyline :jmp:

Well, the Crystal people did say that Lara was investigating multiple underworlds if I remember correctly. We've had magazines discuss Wayeb when they were shown the Mayan level and now they discuss Thor's Hammer when they are shown the under water level. I would guess that Lara looks for both throughout the course of the game, along with a few others that we haven't heard about yet :D

each level has astory behind it, and they all conect by a major story, which we don't yet know.

To be honest I'm not overly concerned with the story as some others are, but, I love norse mythology and if the game, somehow, is more related to it than Mayan mythology I'm happy.

But I'm kinda confused about this whole thing with Thor's hammer and the Kraken since there's not even any scandinavian country or sea in Lara's itinerary for TRU...

If i'm not mistaken, they mentioned something about the Arctic Sea...actually it's the Arctic Ocean, there isn't an Arctic Sea if you want to get technical. :p

Of course maybe they meant a sea in the Arctic. In that case, both Norway and Sweden are in the Arctic...two scandinavian countries! :D

As for Thor's hammer and the Kraken in the mediterranean, vikings did go that far south. Perhaps they dropped a few things on the way. :p

We speculated that because we only knew about Mexico, IMO. Now that we know about the Med, we learn about the Norse mythology.

It has been said that Underworld will have Lara exploring the different underworlds of different civilisations, probably trying to find out which one can lead her to Avalon, or even give her a clue to go on about finding her mother;).

This is probably how Amanda and Natla tie in too. Amanda wants to get to Avalon (no idea why exactly), and Natla's trying to find another remnant of Atlantis, of which Avalon is probably a remnant of.

Ooh, wait! I just realised something!

Amanda supposedly died in Legend, so it is possible that she actually did die, and somehow got control of Fluffy, using him to her advantage, and then, maybe she's trying to get to Avalon so she can get her body back. Maybe.

Or maybe, as her biography reads, she's trying to get there because she had a "... fascination with mysticism" and wanted to rediscover "... mystical knowledge from the past" and "... teach these forgotten truths to others so they could gain spiritual enlightenment".

So, I think it's still in shadow whether Amanda wants to get to Avalon for her own personal matters, truly out of respect for past mysticism, or maybe, as we all think, she just wants to get there because she's working for Natla (which she probably is).

:)

Amanda didn't die. . .

And she's definitely not looking for her body. Lara pistol whipped her. Can't hit a nonphysical body. . .

Yeah, maybe it's Fluffy's body? Hmm, but it seemed like Fluffy possessed her then left, didn't it?

I hoping it's both stories. The Mayan web plot sounds really awesome, I think they could make a great plot with that.

im imagining that thors hammer was made from the same material that excalibur was made of, thats an interesting tie in if im guessing correct, wow they are so creative(provided im right, if im not well then i am, lol)

yeah its about both, it was a suprise to read now they have added thors hammer, and its making me kind of sceptical to buy the game, but i guess it would be rather interesting to say the least, i will just need to sit back and wait for more information about the game, i just hope they dont butcher it up

theres indeed an arctic ocean,.. which is small enough as to be a sea.:D... on the other hand... as you said viking reach many coastlines,... why not hiding their most precious treasure from everyone far down in the mediterranean, where noone had heard of it before...

or maybe theres another conection:D... like hefeistos hammer:D:D:D

I think Thor's hammer will be the mechanism that will open the pathway to the Underworld. Probably it'll have to hammer down several times to open the pathway.

Lara opens the Mayan Underworld using the calender puzzle, she likely has to raid the Norse Underworld in order to get the hammer, which underworld was it exactly that you thought she would use the hammer to gain entry?

The hammer is one of the things Lara is collecting, l really doubt she is going to all that trouble to simply use it to break down a door, she would have something much more epic in mind. Besides Thor might need his hammer, Lara being mortal might not be even able to use it, she might need it for something else.

I'm confused if they will mix Norse and Mayan legends into one?!

Thor used his hammer to defeat the giants and Midgard Serpent. Interesting will we meet that giant sea serpent? Hammer was only weapon agaisnt it. There wasn't anything about hammer being a ticket to underworld.
Interesting how it will work anyway

I don't know maybe she'll need to find Thor and bring his hammer back? That would be funny

maybe the use the hammer to beat natla who may as well be involved on the storyline now...

For generations, stories have been told of the fearsome weapon of Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Legend holds that Thor’s hammer had the power to smash mountains into valleys and to destroy even the gods. For more than a thousand years it has existed only as a myth...until now.

hammer to kill Natla?
