What is the most important advice or quote that you'd like to share with others. Any inspiring poems or thoughts that touched you?

I guess the point of this post is to get people to share thoughtful quotes made by others that they admire or admired.

I've got lots but I won't post them all now.

Here's one (it's not the best but it's the only one I can remember right now):

"like weeds in a garden, the trappings of wealth have crowded out the more beautiful flowers of caring and happiness" Cecile Andrews

Carpe Conundrum (Seize the problem)
I've always liked that quote...

Hi rogue_eclipse

This is a really, really good question. I've had to think hard: I've two, seemingly, contradictory quotes.

'This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.'

'Without lies humanity would perish of despair and boredom.'

(Anatole France)

The best piece of advice/wisdom ever given to be came from a close family friend of ours who just died two years ago.

We were having an after-Christmas get together/dinner and my brother was just being my brother (I think that explains a lot http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif ) and annoying. And typical parents, I got yelled at. lol So I said something like, "Hey! I'm the victim here!"

I still think to this day, that what Mr. Lynch said next, is first thing I've ever heard that had a resounding impact.

You only are a victim when you're unwilling or not able to do anything about the situation

What is most important is to find peace and to share it with others.

-- Thich Nhat Hanh

Anger diminishes our power to distinguish right from wrong, and this ability is one of the highest human attributes. If it is lost, we are lost. Sometimes it is necessary to respond strongly, but this can be done without anger. Anger is not necessary. It has no value.

-- His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Underneath all the texts, all the sacred psalms and canticles, these watery varieties of sounds and silences, terrifying, mysterious, whirling and sometimes gestating and gentle must somehow be felt in the pulse, ebb, and flow of the music that sings in me. My new song must float like a feather on the breath of God.

-- Hildegard von Bingen

Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive. And it is only by this meeting that a new world is made.

-- Anais Nin

The lesson which life repeats and constantly enforces is "Look under foot." You are always nearer the divine and the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars, every place is the center of the world.

-- John Burroughs
