In some areas where Lara runs from a small hallway into a larger room, the camera zooms out to make the room look like it is sort of growing into view. I didn't even notice it until the entry into the giant lava room of the Great Pyramid. If you step across the camera trigger, you can see that the camera is just zooming out, but running through it makes the camera pause for a second as the room expands in front of you. It's a really cool effect that I'm not sure if I have seen used in a game before.
It's pretty common nowadays. It's widely used, for example, in games where you can aim or simply pull out your guns: camera adjusts position and depth of field so you can see more. Same effect.

It happens in the lost valley if you camera closer to the ground...it looks like the environment is growing or something.
Even more creaper when playing in true-3d. The room itself extends kinda like a rubber band. :tea:
It's ok in most places but in that waterroom in egypt where you have to jump from platform to platform there's one place (where you pull a block over to reach a ledge) where that effect is really disturbing.
cheers

Interesting, I will have to try this in "true 3d".

the effect is supposed to look like a movie camera switching from wide angle to telephoto and vice versa. it looks totally sweet in my opinion.
and yeah...what is true 3d?

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but sometimes the camera does this thing where it seems to zoom in and then out several times really quickly, which makes the screen sort of flow. It nearly gave me motion sickness :o
I hardly use it though I'm glad it's there. It makes the room you're in feel so...big when it is :D

I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT:eek:!!!!
YESSSS I LOOOOVE that effect. I've been using it a lot in my T-REX battles but I'd randomly have that work and don't know for sure how. All I know is once you get that to happen, all you have to do is aim the camera up close all the way (literally pushing the right stick down to aim camera up) and then it will zoom in at Lara even more. And once you do the adrenaline dodge, the camera will be DYNAMIC when the T-Rex gets shot as you slide backwards, click your gun and slide back to position - WOOO so hollywood:D!!
I admit that I noticed this camera effect only at Sanctuary of the Scion. :p
But it's quite nice.
The camera effects throughout the game were nice. :)

You can install a stereodriver (3D-driver) on your computer to play games in 3D. There are some ways to see 3D but the easiest for those who never tried is to download and try the iz3d-stereodriver (http://www.iz3d.com/t-dcdriver.aspx). It has support for a number of different 3D-hardwaresetups and the the red/cyan mode is free. Since left and right eye are filtered using colors this is really no good way to play in 3D but you get a hint on how it works.
If you can play tomb raider legend or anniversary on your computer then this will probably also work in 3D. If you want to play older games i believe you have to stick to older Nvidia graphics card and their now more or less outdated stereodriver.
I know a guy who makes red/cyan glasses and sends them worldwide for free. Of course you can get better glasses elsewhere but at least it's free. :D
