Screwing with GIMP

Well, I just dowloaded the insanely complicated GIMP and started to screw around with it. This was the end result-

The red border is because I had to save it with Snipping Tool because GIMP keeps saving my pictures in incomprehensible extensions. (.xcf???)

there is a drop down menu in GIMP to choose what extension you want, or you can just manually enter the extension and GIMP will recognize what you are trying to save it as.
