1. Update your video driver from here: www.ati.amd.com

You must select: Windows XP \ Radeon \ Radeon x800 series.

2. Update your audio drivers (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false).

3. Go to Control panel > Administrative tools > Computer management > Disk management.
You need to reassign some drive letters. To reassign a drive letter you must right click the drive, select "Change drive letter or path" and choose the apropriate letter, then press OK.

So:
Let your C: drive remain C:
Reassign D: drive to X:
Reassign E: drive to D:
Reassign H: drive (DVD-ROM) to E:
Reassign I: drive (CD-ROM) to F:
Reassign X: drive now to G:

Et voila... :)

4. Now read THIS (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html) guide throughly and install as recommended.

first install VDMSound
reboot your PC
then put TR1 CD into lowest drive (it'll be E: for you, if you followed my advice #3) and run TR Advanced Installer.

Open your TR1 disk in Windows Explorer, make a screenshot of disk contents and post here.

1. This is not the original TR1 CD:
the original

comes without TRAI
has CD label TOMBRAID or TOMBENG

So do you have the original TR1 CD? If not - we don't support pirated games here.

2. Remove all CD/DVDs from drives and reassign letter as I said:

1. Let your C: drive remain C:

2. Reassign D: drive to X:

3. Reassign E: drive to D:
4. Reassign H: drive (DVD-ROM) to E:
5. Reassign I: drive (CD-ROM) to F:
6. Reassign X: drive now to G:

If you do exactly this way (in this order), you'll get it right.

3. Put TR1 CD into DVD-ROM (drive E: after reassigning) and run TRAI (if the CD is not original it won't help though).

And don't BUMP/doublepost!

OK.
As you remapped DVD-ROM to letter E: try the following:

1. Download and install VDMSound 2.10 (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp2.html).

2. Reboot your PC right after VDMSound installation.

3. Download new version of TRAI - HERE (http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp2.html) (thanx Bokkie for note).

4. Put your TR1 CD into drive E: and run new version of TRAI.

5. Then follow the procedure in the Guide (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html).

1. Download THIS (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/download/esc/tomb_dgv.zip) TR1 preconfigured pack and unZIP to C:\
2. Then go to C:\Tombraid folder, run DgVoodooSetup.exe, choose DOS platform:

on Global tab untick "Working in VDD mode" option
on Glide tab untick "Force W-buffering" option

Press OK button.
3. To run TR1 go to C:\Tombraid, run DgVoodoo.exe, don't close the upcoming window, run tomb.vlp file :)

darkruku
16-07-08, 05:53
i did the first few steps and now im sorta confused onthe last one k i ran

DgVoodoo.exe but witch Tombraider do i have to run ? the TRAI?

EscondeR
16-07-08, 06:04
^ Nope, run C:\TOMBRAID\tomb.vlp file or C:\TOMBRAID\tomb.exe :)

Make 2 desktop icons: one for DgVoodoo.exe and one for Tomb.vlp to run it easier.

darkruku
16-07-08, 06:13

EscondeR

Nope, you must put your TR1 CD into drive E: and run this version that you've downloaded from anywhere you like.

darkruku
16-07-08, 06:44

Can you post a screenshot of this message?

Do you have a spare CD-RW?
Make a copy of your TR1 CD in some CD burning program (e.g. Nero), but set the disc label to: TOMBRAID or TOMBENG. Then try installing via TRAI using this new burned CD.

^ Quit Nero Express interface, and run Nero Burning Rome full/expert interface, create new Mixed-mode CD project, go to Disk Label tab and set label to be: TOMBRAID or TOMBENG.

Last thing before calling heavy artillery: try reassigning drive E: (your DVD-ROM) to letter D: (reassign D: to X:, then reassign E: to D:, then reassign X: to E:). Then put TR1 CD to drive D: and install via TRAI.

darkruku
20-07-08, 04:17
iv told u befor the letter D is not on the list it just starts off from E there is no D

EscondeR
20-07-08, 04:29
Can you post a screenshot of your Disk management table here then?
-- Edit --
Forget about dynamic disks... My mistake.

You had some CD/DVD emulating software installed (maybe still have), uninstall it completely (as it seems that installation has gone corrupt) to make letter D: available for usage and your PC not glitching.

wait k so how do i uninstall what ever it is thats gone curropted ???

EscondeR
20-07-08, 04:43
Just read my post above :)

Most likely you had Daemon Tools or Alcohol...

-- Edit --

If you don't have it in Device manager (unlikely), then go to Start > Run , type in regedit, press Enter. In Registry editor go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\S CSI\" folder and completely delete "CdRom&Ven_Generic&Prod_DVD-ROM&Rev_1.0" folder there.

Be careful with Regedit and don't delete anything except that I told you!

darkruku
20-07-08, 05:15
so u want me to completly delet the folder called VCdRom&Ven_Generic&Prod_DVD-ROM&Rev_1.0?? yes no ?

EscondeR
20-07-08, 05:32
Yes. Delete it then reboot your PC, then reassign your DVD-ROM to letter D: (it'll be available).

darkruku
20-07-08, 05:39
um k i did what u asked i hit delete but theres a problem it says that there was a error while deleting and it dosnt delete the folder

EscondeR
20-07-08, 05:42
Do you have the Administrator rights on your PC?

Right click the folder, select Permissions, select All in upper field, tick Full Access in lower field and press OK button. Now delete the folder. Then reboot your PC.

darkruku
20-07-08, 05:52
k i managed to delet it but it keep comming back when i reboot ??? whats u recomend now

k edited! k i managed to get rid of it i located it it was Deomon somthing toolsbut ya i now have the letter D i registerd drives acrodingly as u said it installs now! yes! xD but now a new problem when the game installs i hit the glidos cuz i have it but it keeps saying game did not install correctly

EscondeR

Download, unZIP and run Reg Cleaner (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/RegCleaner.zip). On the Uninstall tab search for all CD/DVD emulating programs: Alcohol, Daemon tools, Virtual CD-ROM, etc. Uninstall them all.

Run ARDiag.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe) and post the report.

Do you have "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\P CI\up55prt" folder in your Registry?

darkruku

k i ran the rag clean up i didnt see the files u said to look for ! and heres the report

2. Download SPTD for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista (32 bit) (http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads), run it, then choose Remove when prompted. Reboot your PC after this operation.
Then check if CdRom&Ven_Generic&Prod_DVD-ROM&Rev_1.0 is gone.

Nope. Those I've mentioned are pure crap (some of them are Spyware), you won't miss anything if you delete those entries.

And don't forget this:

You can start with it BTW :)
