My Internet to some Websites is unbelievably laggy and some of them just dont work. www.tv.com (http://www.tv.com/)

I have to constintly Defrag my PC and use CCleaner for the TRF Board to work and not even I.E.7 works properly.

I also Installed Opera and its the same problem with Websites.

So should i do a System Boot again and turn off Auto Updates, or should i just delete them all in Add/Remove.

what is that? did you edit it? I would be wary of something with asterisks in its name!!

The last one is my ADSL USB Cable in witch i dont really need, i can Delete it if you want me to, but it wont solve my Internet problem.

Im not sure what the other thing is, apparently the TRF Board dont like the word :p

i saw your log at Nvidia Forums actually and it appeared the same (actually with @ symbols). Please check your log again manually and tell us if it appears the same. If not.. try to bypass the sensor if that is what cause the asterisks. I tend to think it may be a virus/worm etc. But as it is, it is hard to look up like that.

BUT, as you say that it is a driver for your usb adapter - go ahead and uninstall it as it may be causing connection issues.

1. Disable Windows Defender and Windows Firewall (if you have it running).

2. I see you haven't installed User Profile Hive Cleaner service (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1B286E6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en) - therefore some errors with your account registry hive. Better install it.

3. Your DNS/DHCP may be misconfigured (on your PC or router). Run command prompt and type "ipconfig" w/o quotes, make a screenshot of results and post here.
You can also perform "nslookup www.tombraiderforums.com" command. If you get an IP in response, DNS is configured properly.

After doing a System Wipe and Re-installing Winxp again with SP3 and abit of Windows Updates, the Websites started to muckup again.

So the Best Advice would be, dont Install SP3 and Turn Off Windows Updates.

EscondeR
15-07-08, 08:59
^ The problem is not with SP3 or updates, it's more likely some of your settings!

What firewall do you use - read THIS (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=129369).

Do you use any hardware router?

daventry
15-07-08, 09:39
Im using the normal Windows Firewall.

I dont even have Zone Alarm.

What other Hardware Router do you mean, because i have intel pro network connection Installed witch is part of my Intel Board. http://developer.novell.com/yes/91996.htm

The other thing i got, is AVG Installed.

How are you connected to your ISP? Can you post a scheme of connection, if it includes modem, router, etc.

Check the manual to configure the built-in firewall via Webmin.

BTW, did you install the modem yourself or your ISP specialist helped you?
Is it connected to your PC via UTP cable or USB?

daventry
15-07-08, 10:23
I Installed the Modem myself and its connected to my PC via UTP cable and USB Cable

Well the Firewall in my Webmin you menchioned has Security Enabeld, Firewall Disabeld, Intrution Enabled.

EscondeR

You have 2 LAN connections:

Local Area Connection
and
Local Area Connection 2

1. Right click Local Area Connection 2 and Disable it.
2. Flush your browser cache.
3. Then reboot your PC and modem (turn off/turn on).

4. Try browsing those problematic sites again.

daventry
15-07-08, 11:43
Im deleting SP3 and stopping Automatic Updates.

Local Area Connection 2 is Disabled and AVG is deleted, now nothing is left on my PC except the Drivers for my PC and the ADSL Driver.

It just happend again, where i couldent get into the TRF Board.

Looks like its happening to us here in South Africa and im not the only one.

Deleting AVG is a wrong decission...

My advice will be: Keep LA Connection 2 disabled, but don't change other things as AVG, SP3, etc... If it's your ISP trouble, you have nothing to do but wait.

I Installed the Modem myself and its connected to my PC via UTP cable and USB Cable

Well the Firewall in my Webmin you menchioned has Security Enabeld, Firewall Disabeld, Intrution Enabled.

couple notes here:
1. UTP (ethernet cable) is more reliable than USB cable for networking
2. generally speaking - only one of those connection should be receiving an IP address from your ISP (usually the first port recognized)

IF you have not done already, completely disconnect the USB cable and disable its connection as Esconder mentioned in order to clear up connection issues on your end. Use ethernet only!

Enable the firewall on the router!

If all things are done and there is still issues with getting on TRF, the real issue may be with the ISP's DNS server. Try this method to enter the IP info into your hosts file and see if the issue helps out with TRF and TRC:
I've entered my self a random IP address for my DNS requests to go to and of course they get no where useful (done for the purposes of testing) This will work with a bit of tweaking. First off, you cant just open the hosts file in notepad and hope to add those entries. It is locked with a read only attribute and is of a file type that im not sure notepad will even save as. Second, it didn't work until I added the www. infront of the domain names. I worked in command line to get it done right and to restore the read only attribute (and remove the archive attribute which was added as a result of working on it).

For those of you who are not command line savvy, I have for you the contents of a batch file that will get the job done.:D

attrib -r c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
echo 195.177.192.194 www.tombraiderforums.com >> c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
echo 195.177.192.194 www.tombraiderchronicles.com >> c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
attrib -a +r c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

>copy that text into notepad
>save it to your desktop as whatever.bat (the .bat part is important)
>be sure to change the file type to "all files" when saving, or it will not work properly.
>exit notepad
>double click the new whatever.bat file

This batch file will execute each command line by line. It will not erase any current info in your hosts file, it will only add the two lines to the end of your current file. You can check the file through the gui by opening it in notepad to verify that the info is correctly inserted.

I agree with that, ethernet is also faster.

Shouldent my Firewall on my Internet Setup on the Website be disabled for the Laptop to work and get Updates from Steam for your Games.

Could someone check something for me about SP3, because i read on the Internet that People with Asus Intel Boards has problems with SP3 giving Blue Screens and is actually the Cause of Wireless Internet being Laggy.

1. the only reason I see the firewall causing issues there is if Steam server is the one to initiate the connection - in that case, I would get rid of steam - that is never good! If on the other hand, your system initiates the connection, it should be all good since the firewall should mark the return connection as having been requested. Basically the way it works is:

Requested connections come through
Unrequested connections get blocked

2. why cant you do the research yourself? You know best what your system is don't you? Besides, I though you were on wired connection - not wireless?

Not to be mean or anything, but its just wrong to ask people to do some research for you when you have the very same resource available to you that we do.

Dont i need Steam to Install the Half Life Games and get Automatic Updates.

Im a still a Noob with Computers if you havent figured it out yet, thats why i ask Questions about Problems in the Tech Board in witch Esconder has Grey Hair by now i assume. :p

BTW, I have SP3 working on several PCs with totally different peripherals and config - never have BSODs (more than before SP3, it's M$ anyway ;) )

spikejones

ive been running sp3 on my machine for quite some good time now and have not had any issues with BSOD. In fact, i can't recall ever having one since before the dawn of SP2. In my experience though, most BSOD errors are generally caused by misconfiguration of some sort or other.
