I really doubt thats going to happen for a while yet. For one thing, using a touch screen for hours would be annoying. Secondly, how would people be able to play online games (particularly FPS) when a mouse and keyboard is the standard?

"The mouse works fine in the desktop environment but for home entertainment or working on a notebook it's over," declared analyst Steve Prentice.

I don't think FPS's and other games are much of a problem. But what I really don't agree with, is that statement.

Touchpads/screens are annoying. xD what about making wireless keyboard/mouse standard? :p

Hm I prefer the mouse. You're right, it's not going to happen just yet. Isn't the mouse more ergonomic?

I like my mouse! I have an laptop, yet I still use a mouse with it. Beats the crap out of touchpads.

I'd get the touch pad all dirty with my grubby fingers.

I like the touch pads on macs because of all the features with it, but other than that I prefer a mouse. They work perfectly fine there is no need to get rid of them. Although a touch screen would make sense on a laptop rather than a pc monitor since it's portable.

I hate touch pads they send my fingers on edge, like nails on a chalk board. I would had to "wave" my hand or "think" about what I wanted to do - a mouse just seems much more effortless. :)

We have a laptop but we have a mouse with it. Touch pads are terrible, IMO.
