Okay, I want to warn all of you guys that, someone has been sending an email with the titles, Osama Bin Laden has been hanged/captured.

If you get this email, do not open it, it contains a deadly virus wich totally destroys your computer. Here, the whole story:

URGENT!!

TWO SUBJECT LINES TO BEWARE OF: just verified this with Snopes and it is REAL.
ALSO WENT TO TRUTH OR FICTION AND IT'S on their site also. PLEASE INFORM
EVERYONE Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and
the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not
be able to fix it! If you get an e-mail along the lines of 'Osama Bin Laden
Captured' or 'Osama Hanged', don't open the attachment. This e-mail is
being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US
and Israel Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know. PLEASE
FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS: You should
be alert during the next days: Do not open any message with an attached
file called 'Invitation' regardless of who sent it. It is a virus that opens
an Olympic Torch which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.
This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her
contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your
contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive
the virus and open it If you receive a mail called 'invitation', though
sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately. This
is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as
the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee
yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus
simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is
kept. SEND THIS E-MAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

At fist when I read some of it (without reading the first part) and saw that it said "Osama Binladin Has been Hung" I was like  cause I wasn't expecting that. But then I saw that it was about a evil email and laughed at myself for doing that again.

Thanks for the heads up

Well, your comp. didn't crash right? :)

My computer didn't crash & is running smoothly. ;) Even if the message contained a Torch, my Mcafee software might of destroyed it before it got my PC. :D

I don't think so, maybe, I don't know, because the info in the is all I know, but yes, after think a little bit while searching for the icon, yes, McAfee would have destroyed it, it's just there no cure for the virus.

I browse with no virus protector thingie, Symantec always asks me, but I always say no. OOO you just got rejected :ohn:

Your welcome, only if an attatchment posted by some sorry sod of Osama (fake pic) being captured/hanged then you'd all would get a virus, besides, if the stinky virus was in the warning I posted, your comp. would've crashed as soon as you opened this.

Yeah, since MSN and Yahoo are smart enough to post Miley's new Hannah Montana wig for her movie, but not a life threating virus for your PC? DUMB!:p

Yeah I get warnings like this all the time, that's why I HATE Microsoft, when I save up some money I'll buy me a Macintosh system so I don’t have to worry about viruses and crap like that anymore.

Erm, the fake hoax fake warning mails.. yay they still live

Since when would MS ever verify a virus, synmantec and co do that or some russian agency, and it wasnt `found` yesterday

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/osama.asp

It was `real` years ago, but totally benign and useless as almost all antivirus software cleaned it automatically.

Yes its good to be savvy with ya antivirus software, but ironically passing on warnings, especially by mail, is almost as much spam as the original virus would do :)

GlAssBOx
18-07-08, 08:11
So, it's fake?

jaywalker
18-07-08, 08:17
So, it's fake?

it wasnt in 2005 when it came out.. but even then it was so basic all antivirus software handled it..

Its a known trick of people to repost warnings etc
