Both good episodes. And I'll take that bet, but I'll only pay up if you can say to me, without lying, that you've not looked at spoilers. :p

Icon? I quite liked that episode. It wasn't one of SG-1s best, but it could have been worse. Then again, none of them were as good as they could have been without O'Neill on the team.

indeed, but watching from season 1 is what i have been doing :vlol:

what i mean by depressing is that, unlike the other shows DS9 wasn't a happy ending, the crew went on to pastures new, went their seperate ways. it was bleak and tragic.

only 6 characters stayed on DS9 (Dax,Bahir,Kira,Jake,Quark,Nog) the rest either died or went back home :(

I saw that movie at the cinema. It was pretty okay, I like the message that our greed has damaged a lot of the environment & the plants are fighting back, I like the suspense & the "not knowing WTF is going on" element in that film.

Although I admit it was slightly disturbing. Had to close my eyes for certain scenes :p

It's not a strictly American production--It was actually produced in conjuction with the BBC who did a great job adapting Robert Graves' I, Claudius book into that series.

I haven't watched the series in a while, but from what I can remember, the history really isn't that far off from what I've learned in my many Latin classes. There are definitely discrepancies--one of the biggest I can remember is the portrayal of Atia, and although Vorenus and Pollo were real soliders mentioned in Caesar's war journals, all the events surrounding their personal lives have been fictionalized. The thing that bothered me the most in the series is that a lot of time would be skipped, and there wouldn't be any mention of it.

It was a really good series, though. I'd definitely recommend it.

Well I do have and love I Claudius, as made by the BBC, even though I know the history it and the book are created from is very much up for debate (i.e. pretty much everything about Caligula is hocum, but still doesn't detract from the stunning acting of John Hurt), I guess really it all boiled down to great writing and then great acting and production.

As to Rome specifically, I did try to watch it when it was aired here, but for one reason or another, I completely missed the whole thing. Anyway, thanks for your input about it. :tmb: I think I'll go hunting.

I thought the best thing about Rome was that, despite the historical innacuracies at a larger scale (they made it clear it was part fiction anyway), it managed to capture the lifestyle, culture and atmosphere of Rome much better than many of the "higher" Rome-related movies and series - both regarding the higher and lower classes. Plus it had extraordinary character development and performances.

Season 1 is one of my favourite shows ever! Season 2 started just as good but about half way through they started rushing stuff clearly because of the 3rd being cancelled. :(

Nooo. Although I like The Tudors from an entertainment standpoint, the amount of historical inaccuracies in that are exceedingly higher and more notable than what's in Rome.
