has anyone ever walked into a lion, ape or any enemy frozen in their spot? like they didn't get triggered for some reason. this has happened to me in both tr1 and tr2. many times in tr1. in tr2 i somehow didn't trigger that one guy in the snow mobile. strangely there was no snow mobile under him, he was just sitting there in mid air. that was until i jumped over the entrance to the cave and the mobile suddenly appeared and he started coming after me. in tr1, in the first levels i've come across some lions and wolves that just stand still. this has also happened with the alligators in the midas palace and in the egypt levels. this has happened with the atlanteans in natla's mines. why does this happen? is it cuz there are some trigger points set through out the level that only for some glitchy reason they don't work. i remember seeing a video of the making for tr2 and in it they talk about points set in the floors and walls that trigger enemies. according to them this was also used in tr1.

I have played the PC versions of both game so many times that I cannot even remember how many, and I have never encountered this problem. Every time I encountered an animal it attacked me.

a few times i've managed to spot an untriggerd animal just around the corner. the palace midas spike room was one of them. and watching speedruns on youtube, i've seen a few as well.

Now spotting them at a distance is different. I have seen a gorilla just around the corner at the end of the Cistern, start of Tihocan (If I remember correctly) on an upper platform on the left side behind a wall. If you stand on the block on the far right you can see him frozen and ready to leap out when you jump to that platform. I wish I had a screenshot.

i may go try to find him right quick, Eddie. i have a save pretty close to there. whenever i stumble across them, i feel like i'm backstage or something. seeing something i was never meant to see.

that glitch can be fixed. just slide down again from the entrance you've come

If you bypass a trigger, you've taken some path that the designers didn't expect, perhaps a bug or cheat.

Nice, JJV, I appreciate you showing how the triggers are bypassed. :)

Very interesting! They look like museum specimens... :D

But what I noticed more than anything else was the music playing all the time. Very odd, I am so use to the ambient noises. I must say that I don't like the constant music at all.

I never knew about these glitches. Thanks for recording them JJV. I may have to replay this game soon. :tmb:

The only time I have encountered with a stopped enemy is in Tomb of Tihocan or The Cistern (can0t remember :p), a rat that is frozen in one of the corridors and when you get close to it starts moving. Funny. :D

the corner bug i think is able to trigger things (not entirely sure about this so don't quote me)

Sounds like you might be thinking of what Ewil has named a 'trigger bug'. Sometimes attempting a corner bug triggers some event, like opening a door or releasing spikes, even though no corner bug occurs. But this bug only works in TR:LR and a little in TR:Chronicles.

More to the point of this thread, certainly corner bugs could get you to a frozen animal without passing through the animal's trigger square(s).

Here's something.

The classic Tr limit was 8 enemies on screen at once. If they are more the game freezes. Go to Vilcambamba and do not kill the wolves. Run around to the central pool and go wake up that bear. Run+jump around somemore untill you have some bats flying out. There should be another wolfie somewhere. Once you have all the enemies out, run back into the pool and climb in. Wait a few seconds, get out, shoot your pistols to get some attention. then jump back in. Watch your game freeze!

Useless limit but what the hey! :)

That's very interesting, I think I'm going to try this!

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. :tmb: So the game was pretty limited, but who wants to fight 8 enemies at once? :vlol:

Well no-one in tr1 but...what about in tr4? High on a ledge with 8 skeletons running around. Armed with a revolver and lasersight it could get quite fun.

This limit was in place for all classic tr's.
