View Full Version : Can't Install XP SP3
So, I just reinstalled XP on my laptop, and I can't, for some reason, get Service Pack 3 to install. Anyone know what could be causing it? All it says is that it failed to install..
Do you have at least SP1? It required it when I last tried to install SP3.
Did you try it through windows update? You could try version from microsoft download center. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en
You could also try making bootable windows xp install cd with SP3, ie7 and media player11 if you decide to reinstall windows. Check following link and maybe find some other guide for ie7 and media player integration also. It may not be availabe if you don`t have original xp cd though. http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/Slipstreaming_Windows_XP_Service_Pack_3.html
Also check previous updates option in windows update. Then click on the failed installation icon and there should be some error code that you can search microsofts knowledge base with.
All it says is that it failed to install..
Post the screenshot of the exact error message and ARDiag.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe) report.
