View Full Version : My computer crashes or freezes

I've been having this problem ever since I bought a brand new 802.11g wireless USB 2.0 adapter and replaced my old Belking G Wireless Desktop card, my internet connection has improved a lot with the upgrade, but now my computer just freezes all of a sudden at any random time, I also just bought a brand new ZyXEL XtremeMIMO X-550 wireless router to replace my old D-Link DI-524 router, this upgrade increased my speed connection by about 4 times what I was getting before, and it's much more stable, also the freezing has decreased some but it's still very constant.

I also found out that there is a program which I believe is causing my computer to freeze, that program is SpeedBit Video Accelerator (I'm not sure which version), so the way I found out is I opened ‘Task Manager’ and on 'Processes' I end all the ones that say Video Accelerator; by doing this my computer freezes a lot less constantly than before but it still freezes, so what I'd like to know is what can I do to fix this problem once and for all because even after deleting SpeedBit Video Accelerator my computer still freezes from time to time.

Thanks for the help in advance.

run these programs and post the results, then wait for esconder to provide some input:

ardiag (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe)
Diagnose (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe)

and go ahead and download autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx) so you can kill the stuff i am sure he will tell you to.

Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) also and post the report. I'll provide feedback on both reports then :)

@EscondeR: I followed step by step everything that you told me to do and my computer still freezes, I've noticed that whenever I use my new wireless 2.0 USB adapter to access the internet my browsing and download speed quadruple but at the same time it causes my computer to freeze, this doesn't happen with my old Belkin G wireless desktop card, but that card sucks and I really hate using it, so what should I do this time? I'll post the reports just in case:

I have the same problem :(.

I think it has something to do with the sound.
Every one in a while when I'm listening to a song my computer freezes :hea:

And It only started happening when I brought my 7600GS (Motherboard isn't compatible with modern cards)

spider pig, if you really want to get help with your issue - I recommend starting your own thread detailing what is happening and post a report of diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and ardiag (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe)

Lets try to keep threads clear of unrelated technical issues - it makes things very confusing for everyone.

2. Unplug old Belkin wireless NIC before using your new one.
1. Right now it's plugged in one of the USB ports in front of the tower, but I've tried plugging it into every USB port and it doesn't make any difference.

2. What I did is I disabled it from Network Connections, is it neccesary to remove the actual card from my computer too?

Try removing it completely and uninstalling it's drivers (followed by a reboot).

The freezing problem has been fixed, thanks guys. :tmb:
Now if it’s not much to ask I have another computer than runs extremely slow, and I’d like to know what is the stuff that I need to kill in order to increase its performance, here are the reports:

Edit: I also wanted to ask, are there any drivers that need to be updated?

Disregard the first part of my last post, after I removed the wireless card yeserday my computer was fine the entire day, but today it has frozen three times already, should I remove the PCI Ethernet card as well?

Disable the LAN connection that is binded to PCI Ethernet card.

Regarding another PC:

1. Update video (http://www.nvidia.com) and audio (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false) drivers.

2. Use Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/ru-ru/sysinternals/bb963902(en-us).aspx) to kill those:

and uninstall all Symantec stuff completely.

3. Run CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/download) and kill the junk.

4. Defragment your HDDs.

Sorry for stupid question, but why don't you use wired connection if you have PCI wired Ethernet NIC? Wired connection is more reliable anyway.

Death Mask
14-08-08, 20:12
Because I have my cable modem, my router, my other computer, my PS2 and PS3 all in the same room and all those devices use a wired connection, the computer that freezes is all the way on the other side of my house so the only way it can access the internet is with the wireless USB adapter.
