Alison is awesome because she does some fantastic moves. Remember one of the first screens where Lara is on her hands with her legs apart, Alison was doing that this morning.

She's dead nice too. I didn't get to talk to her for too long, but hopefully we can run some interviews with her in the not too distant future.

Angelina may have big lips and an angular face, but the new model has that slim, athletic look and combined with her gymnastic moves I think she represents Lara better.

I think that she is perfect to represent underworld lara, as Karima was perfect to represent legend lara. Alison is a darker Lara, just like the new lara is. Karima is a light lara, and we know who Legend Lara is.

Alison looks fine to me, so long as she can look good in the outfits, looks a bit like Lara and can pull the crowds at the conventions she will do. Nice to hear she comes across as friendly, but can still get that killer Lara look, Karima just never seemed to be able to act like Lara in front of a camera. Alison actually having a few muscles and being able to do some of the gymnastics is a bonus, hopefully she can do a nice upper class British accent as well, but if not she can just get by on looks, same as some of the others had to. Hopefully now all those Karima fans will finally work out playing Lara is only a temporary job not a career.

How did Alison hear about the audition? She does not seem to be a model or an actress so a assume she did not at the time have an agent.

Did Alison get a 2 year contract or just 12 months?

Had Alison played any of the Tomb Raider games before auditioning for the part of Lara, or is she now busily trying to do a bit of homework on Lara's past adventures in between training sessions and appearances?

l cannot ask Lara, but Alison might know, what is the strap on the right wrist meant to be?

I think she looks fantastic. Much more suited to playing Lara than Karima, who looked like she would snap if she tried any of these moves we're seeing Alison pull off. She's a welcome change from smiley-fairy-light Karima. She seems to have the attitude and the physical prowess to actually play a convincing L.C.

Yes well awesome acrobatic skills are not going to be seen if you expect her to wear a strip of brown material that will show just about everything on the first flip. Tiny tiny shorts might be fine for a game character, or a model expected to do normal things, not for someone doing gymnastics. The outfit looks fine and is practical, the connectors for the holsters and belt buckle could have been better, but l doubt they will change. The outfit looks enough like the game one, it does not have to be exactly the same.

I can partly imgine what Vyto will do when he sees this...if he hasn't already... And yeah she is an amazing athlete, but with no thought about panties...

My opinion on the new model
1. She's great, she can do stunts
2. Her face is quite ok
3. Personally, i prefer Karima's FACE:D

edit: I'd like to see her in the classic TR outfit :D

She seems a bit short, but meh

The outfit however does her figure no justice.

Although, she is a woman (silver lining :D)

I think it would be nice to see a more mature looking model. Maybe someone in their late twenties? The new model has too much of a baby face for me. Lara is indeed "ageless" but i imagine her to be in her late 20's early 30's.

Hm....I am trying to keep my Karima-bias at bay as I look at these.

She's not un-attractive (in fact she looks like a girl I met at a bar last weekend, hehe), but there's something I can't quite like about her as Lara. Maybe it's the cheap holster setup, the mole on her chest, or the fact that this just seems like an above average look-a-like photoshoot.

I will not remain negative though; I am sure we'll get some great shots in the near future so I will not cast my final opinion until then.

Yes well awesome acrobatic skills are not going to be seen if you expect her to wear a strip of brown material that will show just about everything on the first flip. Tiny tiny shorts might be fine for a game character, or a model expected to do normal things, not for someone doing gymnastics. The outfit looks fine and is practical, the connectors for the holsters and belt buckle could have been better, but l doubt they will change. The outfit looks enough like the game one, it does not have to be exactly the same.

the outfit might be practical in a tomb that someone enters every 500 years or so, but im worried for the credibility of the franchise if its shown in public. if thats the kind of photos we get from the official photo shoot, imagine what can be snapped by an audience at a game convention where everyone has camcorders and cameraphones. and she should be able to move freely and not worrying about the outfit when shes working. i think they really have to get her a new outfit before she go to Leipzig, which i assume will be her first real day of work.

Or simply get rid of the whole model thing. Do they seriously do anything good for the promotion except for the few fans who want to get their picture taken with them? Just cut a cardboard Lara or something if you have to have her standing there. No other games have "official models" and they still manage to outsell TR. :p

Not many people can have Lara's perfect proportions but Eidos can at least have the workmanship of producing high quality outfits from THEIR OWN game...

Eidos outfit pales in comparison to some of our own cosplay player brilliant work at tombraiderchronicles.com. For example, the lovely Illyne here:

I think the outift looks better in the digital Lara... There it looks alot more practicle, easy to move, strong.... etc etc... The outift the new model's wearing looks like it was made with some piece of cloth dumped after the filmings of an Hollywood movie were over.

I dont think the `model` lara has ever actually tried to be a mirror image of game Lara.. Otherwise the earlier models would have had to be very angular and pointy :)
Well that would explain Rhona Mitra's surgery :D

But seriously...
Remember one of the first screens where Lara is on her hands with her legs apart, Alison was doing that this morning.
I can't wait to see what she'll do with even more practice. It's good to see someone who fits, someone who is actually able to run, jump, roll etc without looking awkward.

As for the underwear comments, that's really not something you worry about when you do extreme sports. When you do those things, run, jump, climb, it's not a show. There's just the stunt, the challenge, and yourself. So what if you see a bit too much of a hip ? She's doing the splits... that's all that should matter. Just my 2 cents :wve:

She is a gymnast, doing very acrobatic gymastic (is that a word) moves.. She would have been wearing underwear for the shoot. Underwear DOES come in very different sizes!

Chill, a lot of people here are already grown up. It's just a joke and also to point out to Eidos that they need to monitor model photo shoot more diligently from now on to create better outfits, better pictures and no more of these waldrobe malfunctions... :D

I agree. These pictures were taken by Getty Images tho, so I'm not sure how much control Eidos had over their release. But I certainly think Eidos should be deciding what pictures are released into the public domain.

Eidos the outfit needs a lot of work

I think the top's actually all right (although, it seems the dark and light parts have been switched from the in-game version). It's the shorts that are letting the ensemble down. They shouldn't be brown, and they're far too long above her waist and far too short below her waist. Sort the shorts out and she'd be much more convincing. Alison herself is perfect.
