View Full Version : Unable to open TWAIN source

This is more of a scanner problem/question. I can't scan any images, because everytime I try, I get an error - "Unable to run TWAIN source. Please check connection" I've tried everything, but nothing seems to work. Maybe those of you who had problems with their scanners similar to mine could help?

Thank you.

1. Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report.

2. Post the model of your scanner and type of interface (USB, LPT).

3. Have you tried checking all the data connections to scanner and reinstalling the driver?

2. Post the model of your scanner and type of interface (USB, LPT).
Canon CanoScan LiDE 25. Type of interface, is that what it says on the wire? If yes, then it's CBL.

3. Have you tried checking all the data connections to scanner and reinstalling the driver?
Yes, I did. Nothing. Same thing pops up.

1. The interface must be USB for that scanner :)

2. Therefore, read the manual - there is a note in what order driver must be installed (driver first then plug the scanner when prompted, or plug the scanner first, then driver installation). IMO it's scanner first, then driver.

3. Plug the scanner to one of rear USB ports (on MoBo, not on the front panel or hub). Make sure that transport lock is set to open (on the bottom of the scanner). Put driver CD in drive and follow the instructions.

I tried everything as you said above. Still nothing. A few days back I installed a new driver, webcam, to be precise. Could that be the reason my scanner isn't working right now? I read that it can do that. I also read something about paths, but couldn't understand clearly.

1. What web cam exactly did you install (model, #)?

2. What program you're trying to aquire the image in? Have you chosen the right TWAIN sourse - Scanner, NOT camera?

Logitech Quickcam 9.5

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's the right one. I don't even have such thing for a cam.

When I checked for some help over the internet, there was said that some people have tried turning on Still Image Service, but I don't even know if mine is on, couse I don't know where it is. Could that be it too? and something about the startup being set to auto.

Go to Control panel > Administrative tools > Services and check if Windows Image Aquisition (WIA) service is running.
