Hi. I've been wondering and thinking about this.. :p Before the year 2000 the years passing by were felt a little better. Like today it's 1988 and in two years its wow, 90s! I mean, when you say 2005 it still sounds new enough, even 2004 does. The time feels much slower after the 2000. What do you think? :p Have you noticed that what in fact was four years away looks genuine and all? Yeah, maybe it's just me, but what's old news to you?

It really isn't, but I think everything before 2000 is old, probably because I remember little from even the year 1999 XD

Same here,
I'm also 14- But when I remember stuff I saw years ago- makes me feel old:o
And also when me and my friends talk about old schools we went to and talk about the past - I feel so old:o

05 and before seems old to me. 06 seems like just yesterday. Like 06, 07, and 08 have run together into one BIG year. Is that strange? :p

Indeed it is, that's what I'm talking about ;)

And yeah, I've been through that "I feel so old" when I was young too... Well, umm, truth is, that you're YOUNG :p Not in a bad way. The experiences might seem a lot, but as you grow they'll just group up in years of experiences and you can even categorize them in periods :p With each year, each period becomes bigger and soon you'll see what I'm talking about :wve:

Well, how old are you? If that's you in your avvie you don't look very old. I remember watching I Love the 90's and going "OMG I REMEMBER THAT!" Slap bracelets and pogs and such. :)

"Old", i believe is based around memory and also the synaptic arches between them. As they being to get more damaged with time etc... then that is old.

So generally "old" depends upon the memories forged within that year and how important they are too yourself.

AODdigger
13-08-08, 20:44
Well, that's the problem, some people forget easier than others :D Like me for example, I don't even know where I put my phone or keys, or whatever :o Yeah, I know, but some people have this extremely strong memory and they can remember where they left a lighter at a bar or something which happened years ago... I know such people and they really need just a second to remember things in deep detail, which is pretty odd and unfamiliar to me :p... Anyway, for me, it's all an illusion. I remember things clearer from 2001 than from 2002. I don't even remember a THING from 2001/2002/...6 quite honestly, I tend to forget very easily.. I don't even remember my childhood or anything that's happened in the gap or... Anything :p Just mere flashbacks and blinks of things... Sometimes even Deja Vues....

it's funny how i think, well, 1999 wasn't that long ago...

and then i realize nine years have passed since then.

and i still remember 1999 quite well.

THAT makes me feel old.

and i'm only 16.

=/ I guess... It's different for everybody, but it's true that the round and beautiful 2000 makes times go slower. :p

I still can recall events in my life from 1998 like it all happened yesterday, so I guess beyond that is old to me since I can't remember anything as clearly.

Thinking back on when September 11th happened (because that's one of the biggest events I can think of within a 10-year time frame up until now), that seems like it was way longer ago than it actually was... 1999 feels ancient when you think about the fact that in just two years, it'll be 2010 already.

Fair enough. I guess this goes partly for a lot of people... Marking events from after a huge event of your life... Normally, it just becomes the part of your life when you just start all over... A turning point :)

to me old is subjective, for me time seems to flyby, example being although i'm fast approaching 31,it only seems like yesterday i was in my teens early twenties,i don't feel older, stuff from my youth is still fresh as a daisy :D

what are u on about... thats normal
but yeah 1998 doesn't feel too old too me. I still think its 2003.

13-08-08, 21:59
for me its contextual.

I listen to some pretty old music and i consider 1960 to be old...and 1979 to be "not so old" thats down to me listening michael jackson alot and him releasing off the wall in 1979- a decade into his music career.

When i think of old i think of 1996. I remember 1996 (being a blessed 4 year old lol)

When i think of old in terms of trle i think 2001..

When i think of old for pc's i think 1993

When i think i'm old...well....ask my hands...they will always show the age. ;)

2006 seems like it happened a long time ago, I mean I can't believe my country was in a middle of a war back then.

My stars, time does fly. I'm rapidly approaching 21, and still feel 16 - indeed, I can remember being just 15/16 - and it feels only yesterday. Tempus fugit, yes?

On the upside, if God spares us, we may live through another 'roaring 20s'!

My Nan reckons you know your old when -->

1) You go to ring your mates and have to double check which ones are alive first

2) You've been to more funerals on average per year than any other kind of event

3) Nobody realises what your talking about anymore when you make references to your favourite tv shows

4) You always say 'the' before referencing anything technology related eg. The Google

I think old is my nan =P

Telltale signs that you're getting old:

2) Your ears are hairier than your head.
3) The gleam in your eyes is from the sun hitting your bifocals.
4) Everything hurts, and what doesn't hurt, doesn't work.
5) You can remember when everything was fields.
6) You get out of breath playing chess.
7) You're still chasing women, but can't remember why.
8) You keep in touch with friends through the obituary column.
9) You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there.
10) Whenever you fall asleep, people worry that you're dead.
11) You can remember cover versions of songs the first time around.
12) You can live without sex, but without glasses.
13) Your knees buckle, but your belt won't.
14) You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.
15) You start doing jigsaw puzzles again.
16) A fortune-teller offers to read your face.
17) The little grey-haired old lady you help across the street is your wife.
18) You get into a heated argument about pension plans.
19) After painting the town red, you have to take a long rest before applying the second coat.

Shhhh. Us old people don't talk about those things, at least not openly. Only to our shrinks. :p

What is old to me?

Again, us old people refer to "old" as a 4 letter word. :p

Worn-out things. Aging is a natural process. I feel old when I feel worn out & less energetic. Its a relative term :D

Hahah. I guess the 'older' you get, the more groups of memories you'd have to compare to what's new and what's not :p Thanks, guys I got an impression about what old is to you :p It's different with everybody obviously xD That's good :)

What scares me is that people born in 1990, yes 1990 are turning eighteen this year.

I dunno... suppose anything pre-2002 seems old to me.
