I open Windows Movie Maker.

http://i34.************/af90n9.jpg

I import a 46 second TR AOD video. It can be found on TRC.com
(The video is a WMV file)

http://i33.************/35kjtqc.jpg

Now everythings fine, it's just me sitting here, and the video just sitting there.

http://i36.************/2yy8jv4.jpg

I click the video...

..But before I had the chance to click on the video, this happened.

http://i35.************/29x67i1.jpg

"To see what data this error report contains, click here.", and so I did.

http://i35.************/29qawra.jpg

"To view technical information about the error report, Click here."

And so I did...

...Then I got this.

Important info:

What's really weird is that sometimes when after I import, it wouldn't crash. It would let me play the video, add effects, but it would just eventually crash.
Once I had WMM crash when I imported approx. 40 images to put in a video.
I can import sound/audio, images, add effects, transitions, everything (at least I think everything) works as it should besides this! Please help me solve this. I have also, succesfully made two other videos (with no actual video in it) and put them on YouTube with no problem. Why is this causing so much trouble for me? What could I do?

go to windows explorer and find the file located at:
C:/documents and settings/lidia/local s(ettings?)/temp/wer864b.dir00/appcompat.txt and post the contents of it here. it may hold some vital info.

well it starts with "LOCALS" i was just actually making a guess there. I'm not on windows at the moment so i cant tell you what it is really called. if you dont see something that starts with "locals" make sure that you have folder options set to show hidden files and folders.

BTW, WMM is a bunch of glitches...

Run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe), ARDiag.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe) and post both reports.

You can also post "C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/appcompat.txt" and "C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/moviemk.exe.mdmp" file contents.

I'm looking at the video folder and there is no Local settings. :o

Not VIDEO, C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/. And make sure that Hidden files are displayed (Service > Folder options).

Possible reasons of glitching WMM:

VERY low RAM
outdated video board and drivers
low free space on E: drive (depending on where WMM temporary files are created)
too many processes running

Download and run Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx) and kill the following entries:

Not VIDEO, C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/. And make sure that Hidden files are displayed (Service > Folder options).

Possible reasons of glitching WMM:

VERY low RAM
outdated video board and drivers
low free space on E: drive (depending on where WMM temporary files are created)
too many processes running

Ok, I've done so.
Now what?

Done?

1. Where are the files from "C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/"?
2. Did you kill all the entries I posted?

Try running WMM again, make sure that your working folder is on drive C (more free space there).

Ok, found the folder. It's VERY big. Is it supposed to be?
The file you requested, I can't find it. :o <-- I mean it.

Look.

I misinformed you maybe in my last post but I need actually the contents of the following files:

You can also post "C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/appcompat.txt" and "C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/moviemk.exe.mdmp" file contents.

BTW, how do you make lara studder in your videos? :p

Take a small piece of the clip (where you want the stutter to be), copy it, the paste it a bunch of times. ;)

Good luck fixing the piece of junk that is WMM. :D

Appcompat? I can give you the contents of the folder.. but..
Which one? :o

(It's the correct file)

THOSE two exactly:

C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/appcompat.txt

C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/moviemk.exe.mdmp

:hea:

Open them in Notepad, copy the contents, then paste here in this way: <what you've copied>.

But most likely your issue is based on reasons I've stated earlier (the list).

1. Open C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/appcompat.txt in Notepad.

2. copy the contents

3. paste here in this way: <what you've copied>

4. Don't press Submit reply yet.

5. Open C:/documents and settings/lidia/local settings/temp/wer864b.dir00/moviemk.exe.mdmp in Notepad.

6. copy the contents

7. paste here (in the same as pos.3 reply) in this way: <what you've copied>

8. Press Submit reply button.

9. End.

Still: most likely your issue is based on reasons I've stated earlier (the list).

yeah... i just noticed it myself. I don't think the files actually get created if you do not send the error report. that being the case you wont find them. I saw your picture of the folder where wer864b is supposed to be at, and it is not there.

Have you done the other stuff that esconder mentioned and rebooted the computer - retried to run WMM? If it fails again let us know. If it wants to send another error report, go like you did before to look at the technical details and take a picture of that screen - or write down what it says. Then send the report. When you do that, the error reports should then be created and sent. One note though - sending error reports to microsoft never actually solves anything on our end. And now that Windows XP is no longer being sold, they most likely will not attempt to patch anything on WMM for XP.

I have sent the error report many times, rebooted, obviously nothing happened. :o I'm so confused though, If it lets me us everything, even play the video, what would two files have anything to do with it?
