(CNN) -- A policeman and a former corrections officer say that on Friday they will unveil evidence of what they claim is their biggest find ever: the body of Bigfoot. The thawed body of a creature reputed to be Bigfoot reportedly weighs more than 500 pounds.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, a pair of Bigfoot-hunting hobbyists from north Georgia, say they found the creature's body in a wooded area and spotted several similar creatures that were still alive.

I believe a DNA test proved that it was in fact not a bigfoot corpse.

But I heard, unfortunately, that DNA disproved their claim. I say unfortunately because Bigfoot could still be real, IMO, but these kinds of hoaxes just make the whole topic seem ridiculous... like UFO's.

id be interested in a link to an article stating that. to be honest, I dont peruse the news very often, I was only linked this by a friend so.. Sound pretty interesting and it does seem somewhat shady that the guys who said they found the body had said there were smaller creatures which they would not disclose the location of. I know that I for one would grab one of them up as living proof.

But here's my view on it. If it has DNA, then it is a living creature. If there is no DNA, its a clever hoax. I'd be interested in hearing what the scientific community concludes about it. All that the article really states is that it was found and frozen by these two men. The date of the article is listed as being updated on the 15th of August. But it does not disclose what date the creature was turned over to expert examination. If the date of that was the 15, I believe that today - the 17th would be hasty of an examination of the specimin. I would think that examinations of that sort would take some length of time.

edit 2. nope.. stupid date format throwing me off again. looked at the second number and thought that was the date. FIX IT JUSTIN!! dates should go as such mm-dd-yy not dd-mm-yy or is that some british thing to do it all backwards like that?

OFFT: It's not backwards... The whole world doesn't work on American format. Sure there's plenty of countries that don't even use the same calender as the western world

I dunno what to think about actual bigfoot/yeti kinda stuff

anything that's found is always a hoax...like the beaked dog...

It'd be nice if stuff like that was real though...
would make the world more interesting

Why? Only Americans use the date like that, and it's quite confusing, IMO. First go days, then days into months and months into years. Not the other way around.

About the bigfoot - I don't really believe there are such things as that. It's still unclear.

well... if anyone follows the link to the first thread (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=132090&page=5) and picks up the conversation starting at post number 48, read from there and you will get a bit of an understanding. To be honest, Ive not seen any official release about DNA results, it is all just rumor at this point in time. You will see why there aren't any reports yet if you read THIS ARTICLE (http://www.sciam.com/blog/60-second-science/post.cfm?id=bigfoot-expert-weighs-in-im-extreme-2008-08-14) which I personally lend more credence to than any of the others that I have seen dealing with this "finding".
