Thank you very much for posting! I didn't watch the 2nd to the end, but the 1st was very, very good.. The music was so soothing, it reminded me of the beginning of Ghana in Legend (one of my favourite moments, mostly thanks to the music!) :tmb: and the combat looked way better than what I saw in the other video! Mr. Bear is happy again :)

That translates as:

Strange huh? A placeholder perhaps?
The ambience is so nice, it goes perfect with the surroundings and reminds me a little of Legend which had really nice background music along with the locations:)

Just saw it! It was cool, the ambiance, some movements and the way spiders were on her! CooL!
Some things need work still though, the way she goes on a platform after swimming, her actual swimming, and the grapple, also the camera. :)
But overall, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME!! :)

The sound and environment are beautiful....I still think they need to work on the transitions between animations but the animations by themself are fine. Even if they don't, I don't think it'll bother me too much.

About the grapple, I thought in a magazine they said that you had to Throw the grapple first, THEN swing? Not the backwards, dangerous Legend way which looks like it is making a return in TRU? :(
Nice video - but why do people run, run, run, jump, bounce, run, jump everywhere - no looking around, no checking an area out - no wonder folks say the game is too short - they are not even trying to explore - it's like they are running a sprint race.

You are right.Tomb Raider is not a racing game.In fact it should be slow.TR Motto -> "No need to run,just explore the whole location and enjoy the atmosphere"

We had an interesting thread a while back about being a Slow Raider.. This would apply especially well with the amazingly gorgeous graphics Crystal is giving us..
We should definitely bring it up some time after Underworld's release; I think a lot of TRF members would like a slow-pacing Lara :)

I know I found a lot to complain about in the other videos bu that was so awsome! I was getting so excited around the part where she was killing the tigers. Absoloutely brilliant. Some of her animations weren't so bad. This looking good. With a few tweaks this could be near a perfect hit!:cln:
If anyone is having trouble with the 10 minute video from Jeux France I would suggest trying another web browser. I attempted to watch it using Firefox but experienced similar buffering issues. Internet Explorer played it fine.

:jmp: Everything is so awesome, the sea and jungle is so beautiful, the music is fantastic, Lara moves so gracefully, and I like the gameplay, the levels seems so huge and filled with exploration

No, It's a new engine but it's not built from scratch.
No, it's not, it's Legend with some fancy-schmancy stuff bolted on top. We've just had this discussion elsewhere. Read from this post through the end of the thread:

Hence the word 'basically'. Don't be at all surprised if it feels remarkably like playing TRL.
Well, guess it's the same old feel old feeling playing with TR:U soon. Anyway anyhow, i hope that this game will give more surprises and challenge. After all, we all here....players are very much a tomb raider. =)

I disagree with the hate,
This is the tomb raider i have waited for just going by the footage.
The environments and Lara were great, the gameplay looks like legend/anni which was great i loved em (don't care what you thought).
The story is what will make this i think.
Keep in mind this build is still probably a pretty early one and that we will have better animation joins
NOTE: when she picks up items she actually puts em in her backpack YAY

Because he admitted it in an interview, I wouldn't call it misleading by now - that is, unless they're still calling TRU the first totally "next gen" TR game.
It's good that this is finally revealed, but it's incredibly bad to have kept this detail hidden for so long. So many other people in interviews have been saying it's a new engine, built from scratch, etc. when clearly this was never true. I don't have a lot of respect for Crystal for this behaviour. Why not just have said the truth from the beginning?

That video was added August 13th, and since that Youtube channel is maintained by the same people who carried out the interview, then I imagine that can't be far off from the date the interview was actually filmed. In that case it is a pretty huge reveal rather late in the game. Maybe that's one of the reasons behind the delay that pushed TRU back to November? It could be that the "from scratch" engine wasn't going to well and they had to cut their losses and patch up ye olde shippe TRL engine.
It's possible I guess. And if true, this will make TRU quite a big swindle -- we definitely will NOT be getting the game we thought we were!

I think that overall the game is looking fantastic. Does it really matter that the engine wasn't written from scratch? I can't see that it does. I mean the game looks great and if you can write an engine and just constantly improve upon it I cannot see the harm. Probably better to improve something that works than write it again and any errors will hopefully be righted next time around.

in regards to the engine- I had no problem with Legend's engine (hehe). It was fluid and easy to use, and CD building on that can only be good. Plus they've obviously ramping up the difficulty
Btw, anyone watch the Dead Space video? Holy crap! TRU ad Dead Space are currently tied for my #1 games.

Yeah, I'm with you. I watched yesterday and I didn't like due to the other vids that were somewhat dissapointing. I decided to load it up again and I think it's just beautiful. The music is amazing! The best music in any game and I haven't even played it yet.:p I love how the vid shows the huge envionments and that it's not about Lara.
EDIT: I just noticed that she doesn't jump towards ledges like there's a magnetic force! :jmp: She lands, no sticking! YAY!

Time trial? I thought "jump to a white ledge" was an achievement or something :p . The second achievement obviously seems to be for doing the adrenaline dodge thing.

I have no Idea you get an achievement during the level in this case you're playing Thailand so it would say 100PTS Impossible Ledge Jump Thailand. Why they put England and not Thailand is beyond me.

I don't think that there is an actual England level (other than Croft Manor). It's probably a placeholder. There was an England level in Legend. Perhaps they simply used some of the achievement texts from there until they'll come up with their own ones.
i saw medipacks in the first video. at about 8:58, the HUD(the one for the D-Pad) comes up, and it shows a medipack on the top. it thought they said there wasnt going to be medipacks?

It looks like a beautiful game, and so far as I can tell, a few of my little nit-picks may have been fixed ^___^ I love the music, too.
I really need to upgrade to next (current)-gen, asap!
