View Full Version : Gotten into the classics...and an XP 64bit error

Hey everyone, I've received both TRI & II and TRII installs and plays flawlessly on my XP 64bit PC, but TRI does not. I've gotten TRI to install and play with a few different options from the Advanced Installer on my XP 32bit PC, so it's not a huge issue. Back to the 64bit; the dgVoodoo setup results in a generic error ('program' has encountered a problem and needs to close), and I'm not entirely sure how to start the game through Glidos. When installing it without either dgVoodoo or Glidos, trying to play (TR VDM) results in the error: 'The program or feature "\??\C:TOMBRAID\dosdrv.exe" cannot start due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.' I've also downloaded the diagnose.exe and I have the report if someone would like to take a look at it to diagnose the diagnosis. But, like I said, TRI can run on the 32bit and I can still play through it. If there is a way to get it rolling on the 64bit, that would be slightly more convenient, but again, nothing dire. Any info or insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm no wizard at this, but you might have to run it inside a Win XP virtual machine. It might just not be compatable at all with 64 bit windows

VM is too complicated for simple TR1 running :)

Do the following:
1. Uninstall TR1, Glidos, DgVoodoo, etc.
2. Run TRRC (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/trrc.exe) to remove old settings.
3. Reboot your PC.
4. Reinstall VDOS32 (http://www.vdos32.com) (like recommended on the site), Glidos (http://www.glidos.net) (as recommended).
5. Install preconfigured TR1 package for Glide Rendering from VDOS32 site.

6. Run TR1 via Glidos menu, not via Autorun menu.

N.B.: You must have TR1 CD in your actual CD/DVD drive, NOT in virtual CD device.

If any issues, run Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report.

So I'm not really sure how to uninstall TR1, Glidos, or DgVoodoo. VDMSound was the only program that actually showed up in Add/Remove Programs. DgVoodoo doesn't show up in the start menu, and Glidos doesn't have an uninstall option anywhere in my line of sight.

When running the TRRC, TR1 doesn't show up on the list. As for VDOS32, I didn't have that installed in the first place, and when I install or load it, it seems to just leave me hanging with a program select window, so I'm not entirely sure where that's headed. I also didn't use the preconfigured TR1 package before, and if I use that will I be using the advanced installer at all?

I suppose I should run the diagnostics again after having tinkered with these programs. Also, when I post the report, do I simply post the wall of text that is the diagnosis, or should I upload the file somewhere? Just had to ask...the diagnostic wall of words is very intimidating. Thanks again!

1. Uninstall TR1, Glidos, DgVoodoo, etc. - Just erase their folders on HDD

2. Run TRRC to remove old settings.
3. Reboot your PC.

4. Reinstall VDOS32 (http://www.vdos32.com) (as recommended on the site), Glidos (http://www.glidos.net) (as recommended on the site).
You need to put vdos32.exe to Glidos folder.

5. Install preconfigured TR1 package for Glide Rendering from VDOS32 site.

6. Run TR1 via Glidos menu, not via Autorun menu. Change Glidos settings for TR1 to use VDOS32.

N.B.: You must have TR1 CD in your actual CD/DVD drive, NOT in virtual CD device.
