It's about 2 days I'm trying to download some files available at http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/windowsxp2.html ... but I always get the following error:

Network Timeout.

The server at dl1.tombraiderchronicles.com is taking too long to respond.

Thx in advance for your help!

Sorry for posting again, but I really don't seem to able to download anything ...

All my attempts to download e.g.

http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/cgi-bin/downloads2/dl.pl?fx_tr1_installer

fail with the same error:

Network Timeout.

The server at dl1.tombraiderchronicles.com is taking too long to respond.

I'm using firefox under linux ... might be this the problem?

Thank you for your help!

I didn't have a problem just now.
Do you have problems downloading from other sites?
What kind of network connection do you have?
Are you running a firewall? Or any antivirus protection?

It means that Justin Disabled the Download server.
He Usualy does this when uploading something big...

Maybe that is the problem...

Do you have problems downloading from other sites?

no problems at all ...

What kind of network connection do you have?

ADSL ~3000

Are you running a firewall?

yep!
but I don't see how this could be a problem for the download ... http is open ...
BTW, the download URL starts an exotic script ... does that require anything? e.g.: activex, other ports opened, exotic clients?

Or any antivirus protection?

On linux???? :p

What exactly Linux BTW?

Ubuntu Intrepid

Then that might not be th problem...
The problem is: you can not use: right click and save as, because there are no links in the download pages.....

Other then that, i don't know what to do....... Or say...

Do you have Vista or XP???
I'm trying to download using Ubuntu.

If you mean which Advanced Installer I'd need then I'll use the XP one.

Thx for your help!

Try the following:

iptables stop (or stop via services config)

Try the download.

iptables start (or rerun via services config)

Thanx for the suggestion, but I rather prefer not disabling my firewall.
It is the first time I see such a problem: what is this download script doing?

just for the record:
I've disabled all my FW rules and still no luck :(

Well... It seems some local routing issue as some of us usually having those problems, others never have them (including me). Not connected to TRC server itself.

nowadays we are so used to complex solutions that we forget to check the easy and obvious things :hea::
switching my browser's network settings to my provider's proxy (instead of using direct connection) solved the problem.

Sorry for the noise and thank you all for the prompt help!
