Pretty much from the testing I've done, I can see that bigger WADs and textures can be used & some weather effects. Are there really enough benefits in the NGLE to switch from TRLE to the TRNG? It seems more confusing than the old one.

Yes, there really are enough benefits to TRNG. But you have to make sure you are really using TRNG and not the first version which does not come with its own tomb4.exe. ;)
If you have all the latest TRNG related files (including an updated room editor) you will see that there are also a lot of new triggers and trigger features, especially with flipeffects. :D
Also new features like quicksand, cold/damage rooms, mirrors on all walls and ceiling and floor, the use of water vehicles (boats), the use of elevators and keypads (for entering keycodes to gain access to a certain area), adding new moves for Lara, special effects, making only certain parts of walls climbable without havign to use ledges or objects to prevent Lara from climbing, etc.
New features are both for looks and for creating new gameplay not possible with TRLE. :D
It does involve a lot more script editing than with old TRLE, but the results can be amazing if you put some effort in it. :D
It is indeed more confusing at first but it sure is worth the effort to try and get to know TRNG. :tmb:
