I would like to see SOCOM I remade so that:

1) you can upgrade your weapons like in later games; and
2) it's not so bloody hard (seriously, later games in the series were much easier to beat on all levels of difficulty. The first one - I couldn't even finish it on the second level of difficulty, the AI was impossible around mission 11).

Oh, and the Die Hard trilogy game. That game was full of win.

I'd love to see Final Fantasy IX redone but instead of realistic graphics, I'd want them to look exactly like this:

Warning Spoilers to Final Fantasy IX:

EWZCvn1Fpjc

It would lose a lot of it's magic if they went with realistic graphics. Although the game isn't bad graphically now, I'd still want to see if remade with those sorts of graphics.

i want to see The Suffering remade, even though it's not that old. PS2 and Xbox graphics just don't do it justice. :(

Final Fantasy VIII would be a good candidate for a remake, especially after I saw that PS2 tech demo of Rinoa and Squall in the ballroom.

But I would definitely like to see Parasite Eve remade.

Honestly?
Assassin's Creed. Don't get me wrong. It was so much fun! But it has lots of unused potential. Especially the gameplay could've been made a lot better and more interesting. I don't really think it gets boring or repeatitive (like many others do) but I honestly expected something completely different (and better) when I read first articles about the game's gameplay.

I detest remakes - not the idea, but how they're understood these days.

Most people seem to interpret the term "remake" as basically the same thing wrapped up in pretty graphics and mocapped animations with a handful of orchestral arrangements of the original OSTs thrown in. Why the low expectations? In a period of gaming when gameplay innovation takes a back seat to HDR lightning it just makes churning out remade cash-ins double as easy.

Imho, the games that deserve remakes should be old. Very old. If not in years then at least in concept - basically the original should provide nothing more than the genre, a general concept, story outline and art direction, while everything else would have to be rebuilt from ground up, especially the gameplay. In this light TR1 shouldn't have been remade as, let's face it, it's virtually the same 3D game with high res textures slapped on it and tweaked mechanics (and no I refuse to argue about "TR spirit" kthxbai). The games that deserve to be remade are the ones, in my opinion, that throughout playtime have conjured the feeling of something being amiss there, like a game mechanic, stronger story background, great voiceover to read out the well-written dialogues and so on - in short the feeling "it's good, but could be so much more".

Having said that, my personal favourite for a remake is a game I finished barely a year ago, Baldur's Gate 1 (no, not 2, it's still mind-blowing in its original form), which contrary to its sequel is an antiquated, outdated, grey-bearded but still living fossil and a true thing of the past which, as I was playing it some 8 years after its release, felt like nothing more but a GIANT blank concept begging to be updated with everything that video games have gained since its release.

The gameplay is enjoyable but primitive - it should be updated to D&D 4th edition (along with all the prestige classes - it was a SAVING GRACE for NWN Trilogy) and expanded as much as possible without becoming nerd exclusive (since BioWare turned from strategic to action format for their RPG systems things have been going downhill). Make it less melee-heavy. Balance out the classes. Have the player spend 90% of battles in Pause Mode, planning the next several steps.

The world is vast and immersive but largely symbolic and empty - while I'd want to keep the long distance factor and the exploration more incentive should be given to explore at all. For example, there could be side quests triggered not in town by talking to a random peasant NPC but by scouting out in the bushes. Morrowind alone proves it can be incredibly rewarding.

The graphics are a bucket of dust (even if character art stands out) - apart from obviously updating it with the shiniest gimmicks available we should imho keep the old isometric view to preserve the "strategic" element. No "over the shoulder" bull**** please.

The sound is... there. It covers everything from location background to battles to voiceover but it's always the bare minimum. And the voiceovers... What little there is, it's outstanding, so it's only natural that imagining all those clever dialogues (much cleverer than most stuff written for games these days) not only in full motion but with full voiceovers and fancy accents (If a tree falls in the forest... I'll kill the ******* what done it!) makes me wistful. Music imho was good enough (better than BG2's for sure) but I guess we could use something entirely new.

The story was more coherent and intelligent than most stuff these days, but it was limited to a mere skeleton, and relayed almost entirely through conveniently detailed journals baddies left behind having been reduced to a chalk outline with your trusty blade. That's a no-no for an ambitious RPG these days. With KotOR, BioWare proved they can narrate a story in a way that makes the player feel like they're INSIDE of it almost from the first moments, and games like Half-Life 2 or CoD4 show that events don't have to be relayed through cutscenes only so there's a MASSIVE potential to expand the narration of BG1. Plus, Forgotten Realms are huge and detailed so there's a lot of room for more info.

The characters are all distinctive and unique, but never proceed beyond some sort of general idea of who they are. Since it just wouldn't be possible to keep them all (25?) playable and build a whole side quest and background story and animations and full voice-overs and skills and stats and so on and so forth, my idea is to keep playable only those characters that are assumed to be in your party at the beginning of BG2 plus any of those that reappear as party members in the sequel (Edwin, Viconia, er, missed someone?). The rest could be worked into the story as more or less prominent (and reappearing, not just having one-time cameos) NPCs, and essentially every party character would play a vital role in the story and not just tag along. And the dialogues. For the love of two-penny decadent halfling performers, keep the quality of the dialogues from the original BGs or all is lost!

Well, that's about it.

And listen to millions of people complaing over TR remake just like Anniversary? One TR remake is quite enough.

I don't want Crystal Dynamics to be known as the Tomb Raider Remake studio. No thank you, Crystal have thier own ideas for thier own games.

Forwen if you wanna know how to make a remake then just get RESIDENT EVIL for the CUBE. That is how a remake should be made.

Anyway Onto my list of remakes:

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh181/SAMTHEMANTHATCAN/FF7.jpg

Im hoping, praying to every GOD, believing, dreaming, wishing, anticipating that we see this on PS3. FORWEN i agree with loads of stuff being added including new characters, new sidestories, new summons & materia, new fights and Bosses and new areas but i DO NOT agree with them changing what people have fallen in love with. Otherwise it wouldn't be a REMAKE it would be a REINVENTION and if they wanna do that they can F*** OFF!

.TR 2,3 & 4 (REMAKE not REINVENT)
.RES 2 & NEMESIS REMADE INTO 1 PACKAGE

Oh, if only some of these would be remade, and remade right, I'd be happy as a little clam.

- Tomb Raider - I want a decent remake, not something chopped up into bits and pieces, thrown together at the last second. One that captures the beauty, isolation, and danger of the original.

- Parasite Eve - Amazing storyline, I fell in love with it on the first playthrough. To see these characters, especially Eve in all her squishy glory, updated in graphics, voiced over, would more than likely bring tears to my eyes.

- Pandemonium - I still break that one out. I just think it'd be a riot to see what it would look like with todays engine. Probably like one big acid trip.

- Silent Hill - Hey, if Resident Evil could actually get a decent remake, I know that by god this one could to. Not my favorite of the series, but it's where it all started. I think it deserves to be brought up to date. ... Just leave the storyline alone. It's perfect.

Well, this game isn't that much known, but I would like to have a remake of the Wheel of Time. With the new graphics engine, that games' story, artifacts and environment would be awesome
