Bleh, this is frustrating. I have so much work to do that I cannot get to without photoshop, and it's not installing. :/

My new laptop is running with Vista 64 bit, and unfortunately my photoshop 5 installation is saying it is not compatible with it. I have to install photoshop 5 in order to use my photoshop 7 upgrade, I don't know what to do! :(

Some applications may just want to see the files of an earlier version. Have you tried to insert the Photoshop5 disc and point to that when it asks you for the previous installation?

Just a thought. If I get some more time here I'll dig a little deeper on this. :)

Edit: Apparently there are some compatibility issues with Version 7 and Vista also. What version of Vista is it? Home basic, Premium?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

BTW, this is the error message I'm getting, even when I tried running as administrator:

How about running it in Compatibility Mode?

How do I run in compatibility mode?

Edit: Ok, I tried that, still wouldn't work. My only options with the compatibility mode were XP and under, and it wouldn't work either. :(

Under Vista x64 you need at least CS2, Mel :)

I have CS2, but it is an upgrade, so it won't install without CS :(

I'm sorry Mel, but no way Vista x64 will run Photoshop 5 installation (x32 only). You can contact Adobe and ask them, what can you do about all this, but I'm afraid, you'll need to buy CS2 full version to install on Vista x64 issueless.
