View Full Version : Sigma Tel Sound Issues

Hey guys,

I have an on-board sound card, a "Sigma tel c-major". thats all windows is telling me about it, when i play tomb raider AOD (and other games) the music stutters alot, Ive tried no/basic/full exeleration and ive looked for a better driver,

though It seems to be a variable chip on diffrent systems so its really hard to try and find one, Is there a way i can identify what driver i need etc? Or would one of those cheap "C-Media" cards from ebay be better?"

Generally most separate audio boards are better than built-in sound chips.

To identify your sound chip download and run EVEREST (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html) the post the report here in this way:

report text

Then we'll direct you to the most recent driver for you sound chip, BUT you still need to keep AOD running in Software Sound mode (No or Basic Accelerqation).

Install THIS (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=898&DwnldID=5500&strOSs=44&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Professional&lang=eng) driver, but the Sound Blaster PCI would be the best solution to eliminate all your headaches :)
