I'm just so frustrated!

I always get CRC error!!!!!!

It happens when:

opening/extracting big (more than 100 MB) archives which contain many various files (different type, different size).

Same with any other archive-type files: cab files, cd images (nrg, iso, daa, mdf, bin whatever), packages (for installation, updates) etc. I never got this problem b4!!!

It happens always when I try to open/extract an archive/image either created by me or downloaded from elsewhere.

What do I have to do? Can it be that HDD, CPU or motherboard are damaged?
Is it software problem, virus or hardware?

I've made some upgrades recently (ram and psu) and also formatted my hard drive

I hope it can be fixed.

Thanks.

Maybe it's a new typ of archive... Did you have the latest update of the archive program???

Drone

I have the latest.

And as I said it happens to any package

what software are you using?

from what i recall, WinRAR has option to ignore CRC errors and extract anyways.

you could cross check which files are bad after extracting (hopefully only a few) then go back and extract the individual files which were bad (hopefully they come out intact).

1. How many archivers do you have installed simultaneously?

2. Run ARDiag.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe) and post the report.

3. Try unarchiving with Antivirus software turned off (only trusted archives obviously).

I use only winrar, crc errors happen to appear after ram upgarde.

And again it happens not to only archive but for every package

can it be coz of different ram chips?

Copy the following text and paste it to your report AS IS!!!

1. Tell us exactly what RAM sticks (manufacturer, model, capacity) do you have and in what banks?

2. Do you have AMD platform? Or Intel one?

Drone
22-09-08, 22:51
4 sticks (twin mos) but they are different (2 of one kind, 2 of another)
platform is intel

EscondeR
23-09-08, 08:56
Intel needs symmetrical RAM config. Let's say:

You have 2 sticks of type A and 2 of type B, so on Intel platform you need to follow this:

RAM Slot1 - 1A
RAM Slot2 - 1B

RAM Slot3 - 2A
RAM Slot4 - 2B

The ideal variant is still - all sticks are of the same manufacturer/model/capacity.

I understand you Alex I did as you said:

put 2 same sticks in 1st and 3rd slots and turned pc. Other two didn't put yet.

First I restarted pc. It's stuck on the dmi moment. I restarted again and pc didn't work lol just black screen. I turned power off changed them (1st on third slot and second on first). Turned pc and it works. I tried to extract archives and iso's they are opening and working now perfectly.

So what do I have to do now with other 2 rams? I'm kinda scared now. Do I need to connect them or better return to suppliers?

Thank you

^ Try putting another two sticks to 2nd and 4th slots.

Drone
23-09-08, 10:32
Yup I will. Do you think they're faulty? (they're absolutely new) Or it's slot problem or maybe I didn't put them properly?

EscondeR
23-09-08, 10:38
The new and old sticks can be incompatible with each other. That's why I asked you to tell me the exact model and capacity (also frequencies if you can find).
