Okay, I finally got TR1 for PC. :jmp: But, I'm having problems with it. I installed it with the Advanced Installer, VDMSound and dgVoodoo. When I tried opening it from the desktop or even in the TOMBRAID folder, I get this error message:

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c388/Jordan_Boi/msdos.jpg

And here's the Diagnosis report. :wve:

1. Update your DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=822640AB-0983-4C41-9C70-632F6F42C557&displaylang=en).

2. Have you reboot your PC right after VDMSound installation? If not, I'm afraid you need to:
Uninstall VDMSound
Reboot
Reinstall VDMSound
Reboot.

3. Run DgVoodooSetup.exe from TR1 folder, choose DOS platform and enable "Working in VDD mode" on Global tab. Press OK.

4. Your CD emulating software (Alcohol or Daemon tools) can interfere. Uninstall it.

5. Run TR1 via desktop shortcut only.

Done all that. Thanks by the way. :hug: But when I double click the Tomb Raider (Glide) icon, nothing happens.

^ Go to C:\TOMBRAID, open Tomb Raider (Glide).vlp file in Notepad and edit (set):

useVESA=no

Have you done pos. 3 and 4 from my previous post?

Jordan_Boi

Just done that, still, the program fails to open. :(

Download and run 16bit fix (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/16bitdos.exe) in case some settings are corrupt actually.

I'm sorry to be incredibly stupid, but what do I do with this Notepad document it opened?

EscondeR
27-09-08, 14:45
Errmmm... What document?

Jordan_Boi
27-09-08, 15:31
Well, it showed a window with green text saying:

COMMAND.COM is installed
Reading Autoexec.NT
Reading Config.NT
Writing Dxdiag.tx Please wait. This may take several minutes
Reading Dxdiag.txt
Execute: "notepad.exe" C:\DOCUME~1\(My username)\Local ...
Completed.

Then a notepad document opens called "diag".

EDIT: I found this file just now in Documents and Settings folder called "Local". That was the cause of my Logitech installer problem if you remember one of my previous threads. I deleted it and it finally let the TR1 program work, yet the error message from earlier is STILL showing.

^ did you just run diagnose.exe? if i am not mistaken, you are describing what happens when you run that application.

Jordan_Boi

Nope, I'm running the 16-bit fix program. ;) I'd post what's in the document, but there's loads of text. It starts with this:

-----------
COMMAND.COM
-----------

COMMAND.COM has been installed

--------------
Autoexec.NT
--------------

@echo off
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 T3

---------
Config.NT
---------

dos=high, umb
device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys
files=40

refer to your first post and tell me are you seeing the same thing in the notepad window as what you are seeing when you run the 16bit fix?

because that which you just posted is the start of the diagnose report you have posted earlier.

im personally not familiar with the 16-bit fix application, but im pretty sure its not supposed to spit out a diagnostic report.

edit: i just ran it myself and it gave me just what you are talking about. i dunno what to do with it cause its just the same report basically as the diagnose.exe report. perhaps esconder meant to link a different application or something, i dont really know. i guess we have to wait for him to come round and explain things.

The beginning is very similar to the diagnose result, yet it mentions nothing about any installed Tomb Raider games, and goes straight to your system information.

It's OK guys, the app. is reporting of the changes it has done with your 16bit subsystem :)

Jordan_Boi, have you tried to run TR1 after running 16bit fix?

Jordan_Boi

Yes, I have.
