I isntalled the sims 2 deluxe, when I try to play it show the screen with the "play" button in it. It also shows the 3 expansion packs icons highlighted, even though I haven't installed them.

I had the sims 2 deluxe plus the expansions packs that highlighted installed on my computer but I unistalled them all a long time ago.

Now, when I press play, it says some expansion pack isn't installed correctly, i have to reinstall or uninstall.

The thing is, that those expansion packs are long time gone from my computer. I looked for traces of them in Program Files, but no sign of 'em.

Also, I cant uninstall Deluxe it either, because it says I need to uninstall the expansions packs first.

Again, I dont see any sing that the expansions are on my computer.

:hea:

1. Uninstall completely and erase game folders.

2. Use CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/) to remove old settings.

3. Reboot your PC.

4. Reinstall the game.

Clarification please.

Can't:

Don't know how?

Get errors when you try?

Don't have original discs for reinstall?

Have threats on your life if you attempt to uninstall?

How did you uninstal the expasion packs? It looks like it's still in the registry.

Click on Start then go to Run.
Type in regedit and click OK.
Left-Click once on the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Left-Click once on the plus sign next to a folder labeled Software.
Left-Click once on the plus sign next to a folder labeled EA Games.
You will see some folders labeled with the names of the expasion packs, if there is no such folders, leave it as it is and close the registry.
Right click once on the folders folder; a menu will appear.
Select the delete option and left-click; this will remove the folder. The window may take you to the top of the screen. Simply scroll back down to where you were before.

Make sure you're deleting the EA Games folder, not any upper one!

BTW, CCleaner is just a safer way to remove dead entries/links.
