Developer Konami is considering an Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4 due to popular demand.

Linkage (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a132698/konami-considering-mgs4-360-release.html).

Good news for 360'ers if that happens. :tmb:

Wow, that'd be a nice move from Konami if they do it. :)

It isn't exactly new from Konami to port the game for other consoles/platforms. MGS1 and MGS2 were ported on PC and the latter on xbox as well if I remember correctly. The ports have not been so great though.

I'm wondering how it'll all fit around this (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a111604/sony-xbox-underpowered-for-metal-gear.html) from a while ago.

Sony bs perhaps? The game is demanding for sure, and it would require quite a few DVD's to swap I think. I dont trust neither Sony nor MS when it comes to talking about how great their console is.

Definitely. :tmb: On both counts.

The 360 is clearly not "underpowered" in comparison to the PS3; it's just that Blu Ray holds a lot more than DVD9's do, so it's all about storage... and I believe, firmly, that MGS4 was made the way it was in part to show that off. This is a "game" with multiple cut-scenes that are each the length of a feature film??? Uncompressed video, to boot. Ridiculous IMO. Even with that said, it might take only 2 discs to fit it all in with compression.

I actually hope, for Sony's sake that this dosen't happen. I think they have too little good exclusivly for their console, as it is.
If it does happen though, then good for the 360 owners.

They could make a special edition which consists of the game without all the cutscenes, that way it would solve the storage problems and make the game infinitely more enjoyable.

I'd prefer to swap discs than have to sit through the install screen anyway (one of the many things the reviews were banned from talking about ).

MGS1 was on 2 discs, didn't really care about that. The issue is and always is disk space.

I would imagine that the dev's would have a hard time making it work without a HDD as well, seeming as not all 360 owners have HDD's. I know that Bungie had a lot of trouble trying to get Halo 3 working without a HDD so that consumers didn't have a watered down experience.

Would be nice, but I don't mind if it doesn't come. Plenty of great games on the 360 already.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh...

It'd be interesting to see how they'd remove all the PS references, like Snake's controller, Sunny's PSP and PS3, Otacon's talk of Blu-Ray discs etc. ;)

Spikey
15-10-08, 12:54
Multiple discs would make the Act 4 "disc joke" a little redundant, yes? :p (edit: ah, yes...those PS products of Sunny's would be a bit out of place as well)

Still, it's nice that everybody gets to play such a brilliant title, if it does eventually go to Xbox360. :D

LOL... I didn't even know that... more proof that the game was designed (in part) to push Blu Ray. Games with ridiculously long cut-scenes are very few and very far between, however.

^That was a remake of MGS1,I think.:)
Only MGS3 was a PS exclusive,so I don't see why MGS4 should be a PS3 exclusive. It's not like MS would be 'buying' a game that has always been exclusive to Sony......oh wait.;)

Metal gear solid has never been a sony exclusive in the first place. It was on nintendo, then sony, pc, ps2, pc, xbox, gamecube (not a port), psp (not a port), and so on.

You obviously haven't heard of a little game called Little Big Planet, which is a far bigger system seller than MGS4.

No, the game's developed by an independent developer. However, I've just found out that the game's being published by Sony, so it probably won't be ported to any other systems anyway.

The incredible hype, the near perfect reviews, the PS3 bundles being made by sony, the fact that many people on the net are already stating that they are buying a PS3 puerly for LBP. I'd call it a system seller as much as Halo or MGS ever were.

We'll see. (And who says that won't be ported to the 360 at some stage?)

It's published by Sony so no, it will never be ported.

You need to start being careful with imports since the multi-player between different regions is going to cause issues. Because of the way the servers are managed with LBP there is a chance you will only be able to play against Americans when playing an import. I import as well so just consider this a friendly warning in case you weren't already aware of possible problems.

LBP isn't region locked so i'm not fussed to be honest. besides most folks on my PSN list are American :D

i make sure all games i import aren't region locked online.....DLC is region locked but i don't buy those anyway :D

Well any game can sell some systems but LBP isn't an established franchise yet, so I'm doubtful, that's all. Halo was a huge success on xbox 1 so, when the 360 came out all those Halo fans knew to buy the 360 for Halo 3... I'd say God Of War 2 could have been a PS3-seller for the same reason (if Sony had been wise enough to have it on the PS3). Plus Halo, God Of War, etc., are known to be on one system only so that helps too. MGS has always been strongly associated with Sony systems too, so it's been viewed as a system-seller for Sony.

It would be less valuable because PS3 + MGS4 is worth more than the 360 + MGS4 due to the 360 being cheaper :p.

I doubt this is going to happen any time soon. Sure, Xbox 360 can "handle" MGS4, but how the hell are you going to fit it onto a DVD? Or even a couple of DVDs? The format just isn't big enough. And banish any thoughts of an economical, cutscene-free version; Kojima wouldn't let his game get sliced into little pieces just for convenience.

Those cut-scenes can be compressed, with little or no loss in quality. In the PS3 version it was uncompressed--in part because it didn't have to be but also probably because Sony could then say "look how much data there is--this game could only be done on the PS3!"

Well it looks like we'll see about that! :p

Good graphics, but worst of the MGS games.

And you annoy me every time you say that, you just don't get it do you? I bought a PS3 just for MGS4, some 360 owners bought a PS3 just for MGS4, bottom line is EXLCUSIVES SELL CONSOLES!! Wtf would be the point of buying a PS3 if all of the PS3 exclusives go to the 360? Most people don't care about Blu-Ray, Xbox LIVE, PSN etc, it's all about the games, and Sony loses many PS3 potential buyers every time they lose exclusives to the 360, thus making the PS3 much less valuable.

Even IF MGS4 will come for the 360, it's not going to happen for a long time. It takes a lot to code a game, and by the time the game comes out for the 360, i doubt it will be as popular as it is today.
