...editing software?? That is decent. Sorta semi-pro

It would be really useful for my course and would give me a great advantage, plus help towards my portfolio if I apply for uni or a job.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Editing what?

Video?

Music?

Pictures?

If you talk about pictures, I'd probably go with The GIMP, although I would only recommend it if you are not able to pay for Photoshop. There is a student edition of Photoshop which is significantly cheaper and absolutely worth it.

For anything else, no idea.

Have you gone through the list of free software (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=112508)?

Hmm, not there, but tis useful.

I need something that will edit videos. But something more professional than windows movie makers.

Hmm, I'm not into the video editing business much, but I often hear Virtual Dub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) mentioned...

Thanx
All I really know of is Adobe premiere, which would be brilliant to get, but I have a feeling that would knack up my computer.

Indeed, Premiere (Pro) is very good, but also very expensive. I just saw they do have an Elements (http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Premiere-Elements-OLD-VERSION/dp/B000UK6OUK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1224259224&sr=8-1) version of it though which is about one tenth of the price, but looking at the comments it doesn't seem worth it...

what specific features are you looking for in a video editing software and perhaps then it would be easier to recommend something.

Tell us three things:

What features do you need
What budget do you have
