I think this just about sums up Yahoo! and it's feeble atttempt at fighting spam! At least with Hotmail you can elect to ignore all emails other than those vetted. Yahoo! expects to charge you for the same service Hotmail gives you for free. Hurry up Google with G-MAIL!!!

I was hoping G-MAIl would be marginally more successful at combating spam than Yahoo! Iíve stopped using this mail account. Iíll let it fill up with mail, then bounce back when Yahoo! refuses to accept more connections.

Yahoo! is horrible. I tried it once becuase I wanted to take a look on the IM, but I stopped using it for this specific reason.

Whichever way you look at it, it's bad in my book. As for Yahoo! mail, I've never used it. But I know they are notoriously bad for spam control, or lack of it. I think isps are worse for spam control actually. Any spam problems I've had have always been with isp email accounts.

The irony is that Yahoo expects me to input my password everytime I want to access my account, yet spammers get in with no hassle...

Don't you have a bulk mail folder? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

And I thought my account on Mail.com was bad http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif Good thing I stopped using Yahoo! years ago...but spam is like a plague no matter what e-mail address you use. Even on my current university e-mail I get like 10 spam mails for every normal one. I have a very good spam filter and only one in a few hundred spam mails ends up in my inbox instead of spam folder, but when you start thinking of it, it's just horrible.
A few weeks ago I watched a documentary that said spam will be the end of e-mail shortly. And I'm starting to believe it...

...but spam is like a plague no matter what e-mail address you use.Not true. I get NO spam. None, zilch, nada, nothing. Yes, I had it in the past, and I mean a LONG time ago. It depends upon a couple of things. How easy you are about giving out your email address and how guessable your email address is. By that I mean spammers use software that 'randomly' generates likely email addresses. So if you choose a highly unusual one, you are far less likely to get spam by that method. Personally, if I come across a web site that demands an email address before it will let me download something, or view something, I give them rubbish. Something like nospam@nospammer.com. Invariably that works. If it doesn't I get what I want somewhere else. For my current email address, I have had it several years and it is still 'clean'.

Well tlr, you now have your own domain name, so who cares? :D If you keep away your new e-mail address from bulletins and all that stuff I'm sure you'll have no spam. ;)

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Yahoooooooooooooo. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif

I have a BTopenworld account that was basically spam free with no need for a bulk mail folder. That is, until they teamed up with Yahoo. Now I am the unhappy owner of continuous flood of spam mail. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/violent.gif

I always use yahoo, I dunno why. I use the yahoo account for ebay and college mail and my AOL account for unimportant stuff http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I use a program called "Spamfighter" and it solved my spam problem. My inbox does not get hundreds of rubbish spams anymore and I used to get hundreds!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-3.gif
