FESTIVAL ARCADIA MERGES FASHION AND VIDEOGAME INDUSTRIES WITH ‘VIRTUALLY FASHIONABLE’ – NOVEMBER 8, 2008

10 QUEBEC DESIGNERS OUTFIT LARA CROFT
FOR TOMB RAIDER: UNDERWORLD™ VIDEOGAME

Montréal, October 28, 2008 – In conjunction with Festival Arcadia, a Virtually Fashionable evening will be held at 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, at the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT].For this world first event that merges the fashion and videogame industries, ten of Quebec’s best-known fashion designers are creating costumes for famed videogame icon Lara Croft. Two of these outfits will be incorporated into Lara’s official wardrobe as downloadable content for Tomb Raider: Underworld™ post launch. At the show, Bodybag by Jude, Complexgeometries by Clayton Evans, Denis Gagnon, Helmer, Marie Saint Pierre, Philippe Dubuc, Tavân & Mitto, Travis Taddeo, Valérie Dumaine and Yso will unveil designs that have been made specifically for the heroine’s upcoming new adventure.

Attendees of Virtually Fashionable will get to see the designs on real life and virtual models as they strut down the catwalk to music mixed by event sound designer Frigid. After the show, a jury that includes Cynthia Cooper, Curator of the McCord Museum, Herby Moreau, host and journalist, Stephane Le Duc, Editor of Dress to Kill Magazine, and Sandrine Belleteste, fashion consultant, will decide on one outfit that will be incorporated into Lara’s official wardrobe, with the designer taking home a $3,000 purse. A second outfit will be chosen by the public and both will be made available for download via Xbox LIVE® (Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®) so gamers will have the chance to play through the entire Tomb Raider: Underworld ™ experience in a new award-winning outfit.

“With the upcoming launch of the new Tomb Raider: Underworld™ game, we are sure this event will provide Quebec designers with international exposure,” noted Festival Arcadia producer François Décarie. “This unique event will give the public a good sense of how intimately the fashion arts are linked to the video and multimedia creation industry.”

The event is an initiative of the SAT and Festival Arcadia in collaboration with the Dress to Kill magazine, the City of Montréal, the Government of Québec and the McCord Museum. Tickets for the Virtually Fashionable evening are on sale for $25 on Ticketpro. For additional information about Festival Arcadia, please visit the website at www.festivalarcadia.com.

Sorry guys, your actually embarassing yourselves. You think a big company like Eidos has personally grudges against fans who play on PS3 and PC.

First of all.. That's just stupid.

Second of all.. They're making these games for money, you know to pay their employees who can then go home, feed their families, live normal lives ect..

It's strictly business. Microsoft is doing what's called "Hostile Take Over".. Maybe that's a bit extreme. But they are trying to get the biggest share of the market.

Clearly your just ****ed cause you people aren't getting what you want and want to have someone to blame and point fingers at.

When in reality it's the company producing the game who wants to keep doing what they do so they are dealing with Microsoft.

Because Microsoft has been faster and made a deal to get exclusives content to their console.

Doing different exclusive content without being paid by Sony would be dangerous (with the contract between Eidos and Microsoft + the cost of making these levels).

That's where your post fails. If they're making these games for money why don't they give the PS3 users the same content the 360 users are getting? It would bring them even more money.

No that's where you fail.

Currently there are a lot more XBOX 360's in homes around the world then PS3's.

Microsoft has also got a lot more money then sony so they can support and finance Tomb Raider a lot more then what Eidos would get from PS3 DLC in the long run.

It's not as simple as product for money like you seem to think. It's not one for one. There are a lot of variables and factors.

Currently the amount of money Eidos is recieving from their contract with microsoft most likely doubles or triples what they would make if they did not have the contract with microsoft and DLC was on PS3 as well as 360.

It's not as simple as..

DLC on XBOX - X amount of money
DLC on PS3 - X amount of money

Meaning they get more money. It doesn't work like that.

Currently it's probably..

DLC on XBOX - X amount of money
Contract with Microsoft - 3x amount of money

There are such thing as financial planners. That's their job. They wouldn't have taken the contract with Microsoft if they would lose out on money opportunitys in the future. They aren't stupid contrary to what you and a lot of others think.

At least for the pc players you can mod your own outfits, so I'm sure you can make similar ones, and more as well. That's got to be better than a couple of downloadable outfits on the xbox :tmb:

Different consoles are always given more attention at one time or another. Either way though, it's not the end of the world, the game is the most important thing and we're all getting that, regardless of platform! :D

No, but I doubt I'll even be playing the downloadable content. I really want to play it but I'll get over it since it's not such a big deal. It's a very small part of someone's life.:o

If we don't deserve DLC then Eidos doesn't deserve out money :o

That's not why it's exclusive.
It's because Microsoft asked Eidos.
It's not like Eidos is going to approach Sony and say "Many fans are unhappy about the DLC being exclusive so give us some money and we'll give you the content"

Not from me it won't. I assume that Eidos though we'd all roll over and accept what they are doing: I'm not. All excitement I had for the game has gone: I'm not giving Eidos my money just so they can stick me next tim. If I get the game, I'm getting it off of Ebay- I'll give my money back to someone ekse.

Eidos isn't trying to "stick it" to anyone. They're doing what is best for their company. They know people are upset, but they have to float the company right now. There's not enough money to fanservice everyone. Building video games is expensive, not to mention running the entire company, the traveling expenses, and the advertising expenses.

Eidos are real people with home lives and kids and worries of their own. They're doing their jobs and some of them are doing more than they were ever asked. Jay does not get paid to be here. He listens to us praise and complain because he enjoys being here/having a relationship with the fans. That's awesome.

The people at Microsoft are just doing their jobs too. They're investing in TR because they feel it's important. They're not trying to shaft you either.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but things just happen. I don't expect you to roll over and accept it, but I do expect you to open your mind and have some understanding. It's unfortunate and like you, I'm being left out as well -- but I can understand it isn't personal. People are doing their jobs. To get paid. To pay their bills. To live their lives.

I think the idea of this is really ridiculous. :vlol: Honestly, who's going to buy outfits for Lara on XBL? :p Although, I can appreciate the fact that Lara's getting the star treatment with her authentic designer outfits. :D

Exclusive outfits? I'm green with envy.

As I've suggested above, I don't care about outfits, but this really shows you how Eidos don't give a dead cuss about their customers. After all the negative feedback they got regarding the 360 exclusive DLC, you'd think they wouldn't do something like this again. Clearly not, though...

You think they are there for no reason?
The sad truth is,that there are many people out there who really like this function.
I'm sure Eidos/Crystal did their homework about who their consumers are and what they want.;)

This forum can be considered a microcosm of the hardcore TR fanbase.....
Sure a small amount of people who arent at the core of TRs fanbase will buy this downloadable content....

But considering that only around 23% of hardcore TR fans were plannin on playing Underworld on the 360, it doesnt seem smart to me.

Q. Whos going to spend $10 on alternate outfits for Lara Croft???

A. Hardcore TR fans.......(unfortunatley 70% of them will buy TRU on PS3 or PC.....)

Dosent make a lot of sense to me...

Does it seem smarter or make any more sense that they're only offering extra levels (6 hours' gameplay) to that 23% and screwing over the rest?

It's buisness, they are getting more money in the long run. We're just not seeing it at face value because we don't have all the numbers. They aren't stupid, they wouldn't be dealing with Microsoft if it was going to cost them financially.

If that's the case for the exclusive levels, then it would also be the case for the outfits.

Consequently, they could have offered true add-on stuff like outfits as the exclusive DLC and provided the game to everyone on all platforms.

Well if it is an XBox Live exclusive Microsoft obviously believe they have enough Tomb Raider players to make it worth while, its their money and they do seem to know how to make a profit. Besides it seems it is not the hardcore fans who are most interested in extra outfits, but the casual players, most of whom would never sign up on a forum.

Well, what can I say - not too surprising actually.
At least this time I don't care at all - dressing lara up in "award winning outfits" is not that kind of game experience I expect, when I play Tomb Raider.
